(1) Mice/rats have chomped the seat pad of my Clarke 'mechanics stool'
(2) ...and you can't seem to buy a replacement part
A new stool isn't exactly expensive, but I hate throwing away stuff when it's unnecessary. Seems I will be using the gnawed seat version for a while...

It's not to help you,it's to actively deter you from bothering them.Taipan wrote: Mon Apr 15, 2024 6:21 pm Automated phone answering systems BMP today. I had to ring several places this morning. Each time it was press this number for this, that number the other. Date of birth, say it, or key it in, then instructions on how to key it in. Another one was enter the numbers in your postcode. I seemed to spend an extraordinary amount of time going through this rigmarole and couldn't help thinking how much easier and quicker it was when you just spoke to an operator!

You think you're being nice, but you end up holding on to shit for weeks when people don't turn up and you get 800,000 messages asking 'is this still available'?'.

First come first served for a long time, unless I know you.
Oh, if you go to Cognac, nip down to Barbizeux St H, then over to Montmoreau, then Verteillac. Cracking road!

Is it a metal base under the pad? Is it sponge or more solid?Sunny wrote: Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:56 pm (1) Mice/rats have chomped the seat pad of my Clarke 'mechanics stool'

Either material for the base you could find something similar and cut to size.
If it's a metal base, see how well a strong vinyl would glue to the base and make a new cover?

True. I'd make a new seat top on a piece of ply and bolt that to the top of the seatSunny wrote: Tue Apr 16, 2024 1:01 pmIt's sponge. Bung a bit of foam in the hole and stick a shower cap over the seat.

Do you get those nicely decorated post box toppers around your way? Find out who does them and get them to crochet a new seat pad for you.

Very much in the 'significant' category.
CCTV shows 'distressing' theft from elderly woman in Mansfield

Nicking an old biddy's bag. She deserves a proper good kick in the fanny.

Having a pint of lager spilt in your ear by a fuckwit teenage waiter.
Luckily the owners of the bar gave me a dry jumper to wear, but still had to sit in soggy strides!
Didn't even get a free drink out of it..........I think I'll be keeping the jumper though!
