I didn't get far.
Neither the kitchen worktop router bit set nor the kitchen worktop jig came with the 30mm router bush needed. I found the bush for an extortionate amount of money but my router base takes through bolts rather than threaded screws the bush comes with, then I noticed my router is 1/4" and won't take the 1/2" bits. So I now need to find a 1/2" router and 30mm bush and I really wish I'd noticed this before I removed the old worktop.

After much hunting I found a router with the bush included in Toolstation nearby. The total cost of the tools is probably nearly as much as it would have been to get a man in, my man card will be more impressive for it.

I wasn't expecting such sorcery from kitchen appliances! On the plus side, they did need updating really. Although, having just got a quote from the tiler, we're getting Tower Cerasure and not Le Crueset or suchlike!

TBH I find cast iron is good if you're doing casserole type things on the hob but stainless better for a lot of things and coated aluminium (not on induction) better for some things. That's all on gas though. Induction is sorcery like microwaves.

I'm chuffed because I've fitted a mitred kitchen worktop all by myself, I haven't joined them yet but it's all cut to shape and fits perfectly.
Last time I did it by hand with a toolbox saw, this router and jig stuff feels like cheating.

Did Brizzle to woodford (?) Salterton in a hired van and back to Aberystwyth to drop the bugger off....went home to Brizz last night...as an aside, got into the hotel room to find a pair of sticky pants hanging on the radiator....got offered a different room that stank, took the offensively skid marked clothing to reception (politely) and decided to stay in the original room...got a have another stay for free letter pushed under the door...so that's useful as we need to pop back to Brizz to see sprog 2.
Driven 412 miles in the rented van, plus 45 in the car to fetch said van , loaded, unloaded, driven back through the worst rain I have seen for thirty odd years, including getting browned completely out for what felt like ten minutes but was probably 3 seconds by a car to my left hitting shitty flood water on the somerset levels part of the M5...but safely home now with a second glass of ginger beer and to bed soon...

Sitting at home grinning

First time I've got home after midnight for a blooming long time! Can't even use drink as an excuse!

But - had a fab meal (pizza!) with some friends then met some more friends in a bar after. The three that came to the bar are all bikers. How come we've never sat and chatted about bikes in the years I've known them??? Probably cos I was broken and bitter and twisted!!

Had a bloody brilliant couple of hours talking bikes and stupid stuff related to bikes (including one of them having bikes his wife doesn't know about!! and having to sell a couple when she found out, to pay for the kitchen!!)

Amazing how chatting bikes with like minded people can make you smile so much. Tis fab!!

Just catching up on the evening Strictly 'catch up' and then to bed for a lie in in the morning!!

Just sat after getting my covid booster. The nurse who checked me in had a thick Southern States accent. We had some banter and I cracked that line from Ted, 'I could sleep on a pillow made of your voice'. I took a guess and said to her, 'Is that accent from Louisiana?'
She looked at me, head cocked to one side, and asked, 'How the hell you know dat? Nobody ever guesses it right!'
We had a proper good laugh, she even threatened to take me home to the Big Easy to meet the family and eat good 'ol soul food.
Everyone was nice. I've had a bit of a party here.
