Re: Depression
Tears of a clown, so to speak.
It's so energy sapping, living up to peoples expectations.
Just focus on your needs and worry not about those others.
Get well soon, both physically and the 'other, invisible one'

Re: Depression
I totally get that, I think I get how you feel, people look at me and often think I've got a charmed life but we've all got things somewhere in the back of our minds that creep out now and then.Noggin wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 12:38 pm
Just because someone puts on a smile so as not to make people they see as miserable/sad as they are, does not mean they are fine!
I really didn't expect people to visit me because, well, if they couldn't stop by my apartment or organise a coffee in resort when I was on crutches, they aren't going to drive 1.5 hours to see meBut it's proper out of sight out of mind - hardly a test/fb message etc.
You live in a beautiful part of the world and I was just saying to my wife that I wish we were retired because we'd love to jump in the car and drive down, spend a couple of days down there and just chat nonsense over a hot chocolate for hours on a balcony somewhere.
It's on there cards for when we step away from corporate life, we've got a few plans, visit Pamplona when the bulls are running and visiting a pink haired nutcase in a ski resort
I hope we get the chance, hang in there, I'd genuinely miss you if you stopped posting.

Re: Depression
Thank you for that, although I'm not IN a ski resort any more, I can see them from the garden and can definitely find somewhere to use up there with a balcony!! Would be great to meet you guys and chat nonsense (hours might not be long enough - I don't get to do that often and I can seriously chat nonsenseIccyV2 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2026 11:19 amI totally get that, I think I get how you feel, people look at me and often think I've got a charmed life but we've all got things somewhere in the back of our minds that creep out now and then.Noggin wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2026 12:38 pm

I won't stop posting - I get that I'm a bit 'different' to the average poster here, but I do like being here
This place has honestly kept me together for a very very long time through too many things (ok, the other place as well
The waking up needing the loo in the night gets interesting - have to lower the foot end of the bed so I can reach the floor better, remember not to lean on the table thingy (cos it loses it's height with a bit of pressure!) and balance whilst mostly asleep to get up from bed and into a wheelchair!!!
The whole day is fraught with risk! And then I have physio and my muscles ache too
Thanx to you guys. I'm a bit better and have had a couple of visitors (not from resort of course
Still fucked off at being broken a-fucking-gain

It truly sux, but stick at it. The rehab works in the end it just takes a fcking long time which is frustrating as hell - I know your's is different but physical rehab is properly sucky in too many ways to list, but it works and is worth it...... wrote: Sun Apr 05, 2026 12:41 pm Not been able to have a shower for over a month now getting quite miffed at this unable to negotiate a staircase between meandthe douche

Stick with it, bloke. You'll get there, it just takes time, easy to say but a proper painful frustrating road to journey down.

Re: Depression
Consultation with GP went well a few weeks ago and I’ve been slowly titrating down the dosage of Mirtazapine from 10mg a day to currently 5mg per day via alternating 10mg and 5mg doses. By the end of next week, I should be on 5mg every other day then nowt!
In preparation for this, I started taking Magnesium Glycinate 3 in 1 and Ashwagandha Calm +, an hour before I plan to get to sleep, both are reputedly good for relaxing/ calming the mind.
Other than last night with the dog waking me at 3am and my brain kicking into gear before I got back to sleep, I’m still sleeping well and not noticed any change in mood / sleep following the reduction in the anti-depressants. I’m hoping the other side effects, mainly increased appetite, will abate once I’ve come off them completely.

Do chemists sell them or is it online only?

Re: Depression
I ġot mine from Nutrition Geeks online as part of a package including a whole host of other vitamins and minerals for gentlemen of a certain age… The Magnesium glycinate includes magnesium citrate and magnesium malate with the package saying it is good for muscle and nervous system function.Yorick wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 3:22 pmI'm having trouble sleeping and just Googled theseSilly Car wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 3:12 pm

You should be able to pick something similar up from a pharmacy, supermarket or online.
Lavender oil on your pillow and a mug of Valerian tea to wash down the vitamins and minerals, and you’ll (hopefully) be in the land of nod within the hour

Genuinely not taking the piss, both are known to aide relaxation and sleep.
