Today was a bit of a mare.... took the puppy hound (10 months old now) for a walk in the local woods. Spotted another dog walker with two large greyhounds so changed my route to avoid them. 15 minutes later came around the corner and was right near them. Clipped my dog on the lead, his was on leads already, one was muzzled. We said morning, walked past each other and then his dogs went for mine. The unmuzzled dog clamped onto her rear quarter, I managed to get the dog to release and then the other one jumped into me, knocking me over, so I wrapped my body around my dog and the unmuzzled dog just managed to graze my puppies tummy area. I saw red and just punched the dog on its shoulder very hard and commanded "NO". The dog backed off rather stunned. The owner of the dogs was scratched up from being dragged through the brambles and was apologising. The whole thing took all of 30 seconds of growling, snapping and biting. Thankfully I had on a thicker jacket which protected my arms. Couple of nips to my forehead and hands, but nothing major. I've had tetanus and rabies jabs thanks to travel I did in the past. We are all okay, my puppy has a couple of nips and grazes, but is very shaken. I did of course apologise for hitting his dog. He appreciated that, but also accepted I was defending my puppy.
Made sure the fellow was okay, gave him tissues to wipe his hands as he was bleeding from the bramble scratches. Parted peacefully and amicably. Dogs will be dogs. His younger muzzled one has only just been rescued from being a full time racing dog, so it sees fluffy things as something to hunt. The other one was a couple of years into ownership, but reverted to hunt mode due to the other dogs instincts kicking in. Could have been a lot worse.
Sitting quietly with the hound this morning whilst wife and daughter do haircuts and shopping. Somehow I am rather knackered now!
So glad that you are both ok, all things considered. Sounds like you handled it very well. My dearly departed border terrier, Sage, was attacked one time and it shook us both badly. It took quite some time before we could relax and enjoy the walks we had.
Blimey, typing this has brought her back to me. How I miss her.

That is worth reading you know. To whom else can we turn, you have the words of eternal life (Peter replying to Jesus when asked who he thought he was following).
We can all do with some guidance, whether you believe in Christ or not.

I've had Jack Russells for years and have always been wary of greyhounds and suchlike as they do tend to chase small things. Its quite a known thing and as lovely as ex racers greyhounds are as pets, its why most get walked on leads.

Went for a colonoscopy after the bowel screening program found traces of blood in my sample. 3 unsuspicious looking polyps removed later and I'm good to go. Got to wait for lab confirmation but they didn't seem concerned about them.

Capped of a gas pipe this morning (yeah, I know, but it soldered fine, no kittens were harmed etc).
Plastered a bedroom ceiling, stripped out the staging platform and cleared the room ready to cut in a double socket and plaster one of the walls tomorrow
The rest of the day will involved chauffeuring the Doris back and forth to the pub to meet a mate.

Best thing about is, my wife said you need to eat something stodgy to give your empty gut something to do. I have no idea why, but I said to get me a big family steak pie and I ate all 700g of it!

Not very often I get to eat pies, but when I do,...

The bastards reappeared outside my house today.
I've kinda written off the hedges, it's the bungee jumping outside my door which annoys me now.

I managed to pull the ZRX11 out of the Baxley chock this morning. Plan is to potter around the neighborhood tomorrow. Haven't tried to push the ZX11 off the main stand yet.

Had a coffee with Trog (if anyone remembers him?), He's doing well.
Is he still living in the Croydon hinterlands? (Maybe I misremember but I think at one time in the past he lived on a sort of caravan park).
Good to hear he's well.

I'm just off out to Surrey Hills for some pedalling for a change. Today may be a bit more hard core than yesterday though

Made cinnamon rolls! Well, baked them. I made the yesterday and proved them in the fridge overnight
Downside is that I did fck up a bit. Ingredients for the buns included butter and golden syrup. The last two things on the list - then there was a gap and a list for the topping. Anyway, it called for soft butter, so that got nuked (it actually said room temperature - room temp here is about 11-12 degrees, so not what they mean I think!). It didn't actually SAY add the syrup with the butter, but I've seen so many recipes where they miss an item so I just added it with the butter.
Wrong!!
The syrup was for a glaze pre cream cheese topping
So I'm not really sure how they'll turn out, but I'm sure they will be good enough to share - hopefully!! LOL
(I didn't cut them exactly as the recipe said cos I had rolled the dough a bit bigger, so ran out of space in the round tin!! LOL)

Don't know anything about any caravan, but yes he's still south of the river!

I think it was in his slightly wilder years

(He mentioned it iirc on one of his late evening Trog-stream-of-consciousness postings on VD).

Played 9 holes of golf this morning then spent an hour or so diagnosing a problem with a JD 9009a. It means there is less to do tomorrow morning with it when I get to work, fingers crossed it will be running sweet again and not throwing fault codes.
