I used to poo-poo electric starters, saying they were for wimps. My opinion has completely changed nowadays. I am really so glad that my KTM Duke 690 has an electric foot.

My Bullet EFI has a kick start, I used it once to make sure it worked. What's the point when it's got a leccy boot!

Have you noticed how Gen Z people love the 80s and wear "vintage" Nike tracksuits. Whereas those of over about 35 are left thinking "WTF"?

Still bloody leaks though. If you idle for more than about a minute it seems to build up a little reservoir of oil, then if you blip the throttle a neat jet/puff of oil smoke shoots out from about 1 o clock on that view. Just the one off though and it doesn't leave trails of oil behind it when riding AFIACT.

Not convinced the pipe/spigot seal is any good. The pipe is just split at the end and wedges on there, not particularly snugly. The clamp then err....clamps it.



I have a strong suspicion the gas just gets through that hole in the spigot then escapes between the pipe and the spigot.

In other news, I went out for a spin just now and came back with more electricity than I started with! 12.9V with ignition off on departure and 13.2V on arrival.

I admire your perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds, if that's any help.

I am of course assuming its not supposed to leak. Strong possibility Triumph originally just said "fuck it".

Sell the Trumpet, buy a W650, stick a fairing on it and paint it the same colours, her in doors will never know the difference.

As standard, there is no split in the pipe. It’s a close fit on the stub and the clamp squeezes it on.

Far from standard pipes though I guess. Looking at the location the hole in the spigot and the split in the pipe....well, it seems likely.

I also have another slightly less knackered Triumph in my garage which I need to fix My old 1997 Speed Triple needs a lot of love. That one's actually mine though.

What I'd really like, and this may forever remain a dream, is to have the Bonneville, my Speed Triple and one of the TE-1 electric bikes or whatever the production version ends up being.

My Duke II was in for a service and the shop bike, also a Duke II, got a flat battery. So I tried to kick it for 20 odd bloody mins. Shop told me I'd never bump start it. Got so knackered got a mate to push and tried a bump. Started first time
