I'm not much of a fan of Spanish islands but that looks brilliant.

Got wet this morning. We've had a thunderstorm from 4am this morning to about 11am - full on thunder and lightening and hail or rain!! It rumbled for a bit longer but seems to have cleared now.

I don't have a rain coat here, so I put on what I thought was a waterproof cycling jacket - it isn't!!

I also wore a cap for the first time today and my boss has now given me a work cap! (I had a straw hat to protect the back of my neck as well for the sun. Now I have a cap )


Here's hoping that the rain stays away this afternoon - it's been bloody cold! (Taking a warmer coat with me for later! LOL)

Spent 90 mins scraping congealed tubeless sealant off my road bike rims in preparation for going back to inner tubes and Conti Gatorskins.

Also walked the dogs in the rain (one of them thinks she's a witch as you'd think it was raining acid on her).

Aren't NCAP ratings just relative to similar cars, so that's meaningless unless you are comparing it with a BMW C1?

Asked around with a few old friends if they wanted to resurrect our old Christmas meal with all our partners. Everyone was, 'Yeah! Let's do it! Like old times!'

So I start looking at restaurants central to all of us, email out, sift through the menus. Settle on one restaurant, message out on the Whatapp with that info, plus that they need a tenner a head deposit.

Suddenly a load of people go from a 'YES!!!' to a 'well, maybe, but if the cat needs worming...'

Fitted a solid tyre to the front of the leccy scooter. Watched the YouTube vid, looks easy enough I thought!

The neighbours' builders came around because they thought someone was trying to kill a bull or something!
Beat the bastard thing into submission eventually. Might be a bit more careful with the throttle in future.

Finally got round to cleaning out the pit of vileness that is (was) my parts washer. I must have last used it about 2 years ago and the Jizer from that event (and all the grease and shite it removed from the parts) was still where I left it. Drained off the ancient Jizer, screwed the drain plug back in and was faced with a black tar-like substance on the bottom of the tank. So I mixed up 7 or 8 litres of very hot water with liberal amounts of washing powder added, threw it in the tank and brushed the shit out of it. What a truly disgusting mixture that produced.

Drained the primeval soup and chucked it down the drain, then repeated the process. This time I could almost see through the liquid, so that was progress. Finished off with lashings of hot water and I think I now have a parts washer again.

Note to self - next time you use the damn thing, don't be a lazy cnut and clean up after yourself...

If the scoring is by severity of injuries, then comparisons between any vehicle is possible.

They are the crumple zone - for the cars in front and behind.

Failed to dodge the rain this morning, found out my (thought to be waterproof) cycle jacket is NOT waterproof!! Sent off two lots of kids on mountain bike courses - but lacking in lifts cos we had thunderstorms from 4am - midday!!! Luckily they are all very young and didn't care if they had to pedal!!






Came home for lunch to warm up cos, damn it was cold today - despite wearing jeans and a tshirt for the first time this summer!! (normally shorts and a strappy top!!)

Got back and the afternoon was ok ish. Group of teenagers off for a lesson that included using the lifts as the storm had stopped - until about 4.30pm!! Then we had a smattering of rather large hailstones -




Physio after work. Very glad I got there just before a complete deluge of hail started

Then a friend shared this photo (she's in a different resort) along with the info that they'd made holes in the hot tub lid and damaged the roof of the Landy

That website doesn't make it any clearer but I'm happy to take your word for it.

About 15 years ago I was driving down the autoroute towards Clermont Ferrand when I noticed it was not just "getting black over Bill's mother's" but just about everywhere. I'd just gone through the peage at Clermont, stopped for a piss and got back into the Transit afterwards when the heavens opened and a hailstorm of truly Biblical proportions kicked off. The van had no roof lining so the sound of 50p size hailstones hammering on the roof of the fan was a cross between 120db death metal and a war zone.

At the peak of the storm a group of bikers pulled up next to me and legged it into the bogs. I really felt for them, the poor bastards.

Today had a bit of a jolly to a lunchtime 'coffee concert' at Petworth music festival to listen to a chap from Gambia playing a kora (which having, in this case, 22 strings must be fun to tune). Then a spot of lunch and a trip to a horologist to see what the future holds...errr...no, to get a clock repaired. Lusted after a clock they had for sale, but £3k is a bit even if it is Fronch and more than twice as old as me.

Not the best start to the day, friends 1yo lab.
And the fucker hosed the rug too.

Been to see a chiropractor for a shoulder problem.

He got me in a sort of full Nelson, lifted me up fairly sharpish and produced a very satisfying ( for him) crack. He either broke something or sorted it. Time will tell.

It's about 40°C today, with no wind. Two years ago we had similar temps and were surrounded by wildfires. Not much to burn now so hopefully we'll be spared.

My normal physio does that quite often! It's totally weird, but seems to help

Dug out the road bike and went for a cycle to Mersea Island, lovely lunch.
Cycling back and pop - puncture on the rear stupid skinny tyres. Typically no puncture kit or tubes- used to the other bike with Marathon Plus tyres that had never once punctured in over 5 years!
Walked 5 miles so far whilst wife mobilises the recovery service!
