I've already booked a Valentines B&B stay in Whitby, she's damn lucky to have £119.99 spent on her too!
Take her to trenchers for fish and chips. You may need to book beforehand.

That big fish n chip place on the estuary with the balcony is nice, on the 100 steps side. I like Whitby. 👍

Abbey Wharf.

A little overrated (imo) and crowded. Trenchers is nicer and the restaurant is nicer with American style booths.

If you’re in the car call into Runswick bay just to the north for a drink.

I haven't been to Whitby for over 30 years but it was one of favourite places in the UK. Must get back thee one of these days...

Me + a couple of mates did 30 consecutive laps of Skeggy clock tower*....without any of us getting a knee down**. :(

*Apparently called the Jubilee Clock Tower but this was before the last Jubilee so probably named for Queen Vic's Golden Jubilee.

** In fairness we were pissed.

I went to Skegness once on the bike. Once was quite enough thank-you.

All you Skeg Vegas haters obviously haven't seen the RLNI tractor unit that drags the boat in, it's a proper big boys toy!

Take your pushbikes to Whitby and have a pedal to Robin Hood Bay, down the cinder track. Nice sunny day required. 🌝

The wife's parents had a house in Mablethorpe, up the road from skeggy. We go a couple of times a year, mostly in winter. I quite like it when it's quiet, it takes me back to my childhood

I had a few holidays in Ingoldmells. Back then it was almost a quiet backwater sort of place - mainly beach, half a dozen donkeys and an amusement arcade but I understand it's changed a bit. Wasn't a bad place for a kid to go a bit feral. :)

A bit further along was Anderby Creek. Now that WAS a backwater!

Edit: Apparently the first Butlitz was in Ingoldmells but I always thought of it as Skeggy as it was a distance from where we used to stay.

That is truly, truly vile. :D

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

On a vaguely related topic my everyday Seiko is hors de combat and is in for repair. It has been on my wrist for most of the last 30 years, swimming included so I miss it. I have 3 others, but they are not the same. 2 are heavier (stainless steel rather than titanium) and one is light but old and not very waterproof.

Admire the craft involved in it but it's a bit grim!

This popped up on my YouTube feed yesterday. I'm definitely a boring auld fart if I'm getting recommended Antiques Roadshow vids....

Anyway, dude rocks up (unknowingly) with a one-of-one Patek Philippe which ultimately sold for.....quite a lot.
