I've got an itch...

Evening ladies and germs. Long time no see and all that.
Anyway, this itch...it's red and loud and Ducati shaped. After selling the 900ss about 6 years ago I've loved the MT09, the motor especially but the suspension less so. I also miss the sound and oomph of a v-twin.
So about two weeks ago I started looking at 659s as an additional toy for dry weather fun (and keep the MT09 as a workhorse). However tonight on the ride home from work I though "how often do I ride in inclement weather now I'm over 50?" and the answer is never. So if I chop the Yamama in I've got another 3K maybe on top of the 4K I as going to spend on a smaller Monster and I'm looking at 1100 S and Evos.
A couple of questions to the wider audience...what's the seat height like compared to an MT09? Any other alternatives to consider?
Stay classy douche bags.

Can't really help with the Ducati question, but hope you sort one out soon.

I think the badger has moved since then.

Not properly. Made some progress on lethal starting rollers over the BH weekend though, so watch this space...

Hello again.
I used to have a Monster 1100 and I could comfortably get both feet on the ground, even with my 30" inside legs. I've never ridden an MT09 so can't make any valid comparison

Great to know, thanks Druid. Are they as much fun as they look?

Yeah, they're quick enough, lightweight and handle really well. Mine was mainly a sunny Sunday bike but I also did a 4 day tour of Scotland and it coped pretty well. They're air cooled and the 1100 has a dry clutch so they are mechanically noisy, and the paint on the engine is crap and likes to just fall off. Evo has a wet clutch and more power.

I had a 936, or whatever, supermoto thing, which was what I initially thought was a great bike. But, tbh, it wasn't full of character at all, It felt very much like a very poorly fueled Jap bike. Great out on the open roads but around town it was a nightmare. Prior to owning the Duc i had a MT-09 which was probably a better bike in every way.

But whoever listened to good advice? If you don't scratch that itch you will always be wondering and somehow dissatisfied with the MT09.
Get it bought, life is too short!

Tis a good bike buying philosophy for sure. When you're in your dotage, sitting in your solar powered rocking chair, drawing on your virtual clay pipe, you don't want to look back and think, I wished i'd bought that Ducati...

Talk to me about 848's...
They are ticking a lot of boxes for me.

You want a later 'EVO' one, it was kind of a mid life refresh and sorted out a few niggles.
..and it HAS to be the Corse SE livery.

On the subject of Ducati, I think I need one. The Hypermotard has always appealed.

Just out of budget sadly. What niggles, reviews seem very positive for the base model?
