Registering a 'murcan' spec bike

Thinking of buying a cheap Chinese funky moped.
Ex pit bike, never registered or, AFAIK, actually sold this side of the Atlantic.
The make was sold in the UK, I actually owned one til it was nicked.
Any pitfalls, or is it get MOT on chassis, NOVA then DVLA
