It's just been published. Does anyone have any views? - especially, I suppose, Spin and Horse, but also anyone else who knows the previous one....

New to this edition
New advanced driver- and rider-assistance systems chapters (ADAS/ARAS) – describe common assistance features and explore how technology can support safer driving and riding.
If the rest of it remains the same, I don't think I'll be adding to the shelf,

Readers can look forward to:

An updated modern design.
A revised overtaking chaper with separate sections on passing stationary vehicles, single stage overtakes and multi-stage overtakes.
New explanations of advanced concepts, such as limit points on left-hand bends.
Practical guidance – learn how reflective practice helps you improve your driving and riding skills with step-by-step advice.

Illustrated for clarity – packed with detailed diagrams that demonstrate key concepts including observation links, overtaking, positioning and limit points.
Odd that 'new explanations' are needed. Unless they've included the implications of the 'Surprise Horizon' on blind (or partially) bends?

And 'Illustrated for clarity'? The new bloat version was first published in 1995. Has it really taken 30 years to decide that elements are confusing?

In the last version first print of the motorcycle book, things like when you arrive at a junction in poor visibility wind down your window to listen for traffic

This is cut and paste from the roadcraft.co.uk page:

"A revised overtaking chaper with separate sections on passing stationary vehicles, single stage overtakes and multi-stage overtakes."

Spot the error.

I wonder just how 'advanced' you can make passing a stopped vehicle. It's something riders are taught to do on CBT.

Got a loud pipe? I've done it. Doubt I'd hear a Telsa though.

Appears to lead to the 2020 update.

They didn’t have time to write a shorter and, therefore, clearer handbook. So, they wrote a longer book instead.

Unfortunately, it means that Motorcycle Roadcraft has gone from being helpful to unreadably bloated.

The more explanation there is, the more advanced it is.
