Strange (motorcycle) urges...

I keep looking at Tomos and Puch (Maxi) peddle and pop mopeds on the internet, 'id like to really pimp one up.
I don't have any room and I'd never ride it, so it's staying as an unfulfilled dream for now.
What odd stuff/stupid vehicles would you like to own?

Mine is usually an old 125 MV Agusta. I can't imagine a world in where it'd ever get ridden, or i'd even have a clue how to start it up... but they just have 'something'
I guess the CB750 classics would also be on that list.

I know it's not a bike, but I've just spotted this on eBay and now I want it!

I occasionally lust after the classic small capacity Ducatis.

Yeah i could go for that.... it's not a crazy amount of money really is it. I bet it would be an experience to ride.... but you'd need the right mindset for it.

Similarly some cool old moped that I could buzz down to the beach and park amongst the dunes whilst I spent a happy afternoon in the sun.
The neraest we've got so far was when a mate brought over his fleet of Raleigh Choppers and we rode them down there.

I still get ebay alerts for all manner of Puch Magnum stuff, I can't shake off the feeling that, with my luck, if I did buy one it would probably end up being the one that was stolen - which , although it would be very cool to have it back, would also be an "insult" to have to pay for that priviledge. it's weird..
The other desire I've had for years, but just can't really fulfil is a Peraves Monotracer.

I quite fancy a Ducati.

I think, if ever I started a bike collection it might be old military bikes from around the globe.

An NSU Quickly moped. I had 2 or 3 of these in the late 60s as you could pick them up for a fiver, tops. They were huge fun and me and a mate used to go everywhere flat chat, him on his mum's Raleigh Runabout and me on my NSU Quickly. These days total restoration candidates cost around £600, like this one:

And this is a restored one, although I don't think that's a original colour.

There were some for sale at Kempton the other week but looked like they needed a lot of work.

A SuperDuke 1290 has always appealed! But its more bike than I can handle, or know what to do with, and reliability wise, KTMs have never served me well! So a dream bike it'll undoubtedly remain.
2 strokes appeal, especially a RD400 or 250/350lC and i have (fortunately) been outbid on ones I've got carried away with. I've stopped looking now as i know the reality is, if I did own one,it would probably just end rotting away in the garden, but never say never.
If we do move to somewhere with a garage i'd like something like a CB750 Four to mess about with and turn into a matt black and well 'ard cafe racer! Again unlikely, but never say never!

We had one at my parent's place for years : it "was" gong to be my first restoration job - but when we looked into it, we realised that the barrels are lined with chrome, and it had been ripped off the inner bore. We then discovered that every other barrel we found had the same problem, and my Dad decided that it simply wasn't worth bothering with (I'm guessing that at the time getting it re-chromed and re-bored would have been too expensive).

My 1390 is great fun.

Yes, the passing of 60 years (plus) means that any barrel will almost certainly need rechroming. I wonder if Nikasil would be an option without needing to re-mortgage...?

There are places in the UK that do Nikasil replating. I don't think it's ruinously expensive.

All the Yamaha TZ racers had chromed barrels.
That's why Proddy racing was so much cheaper with rebores available.
