Was considering thus as we could also get a mobile kit for paddocks when we're away racing. Price starting from £35 per month upwards.
I think im paying about £65 for BT which we've been with for 25 years in various houses, but i don't particularly need to be
Although I do get TNT at a reduced rate I think

We’ve got it at a couple of customers sites where they are out in the sticks and can’t get proper connectivity.
It’s good on the whole. Reliable and quick. Not brilliant for voip and video due to a relatively high latency.

I believe you can also have issues with some high security network connections because the connection to the satellite and the relay stations changes each time it switches satellite which can look like a network connection change which is indicative of a hack.

Neighbour of mine got it last week. Getting a good 70mb three floors away from the main router.
Max we can get here without it is 28mb (and for the same price).
I'm locked in to EE till December, but am tempted to get it now anyway - it's down to £25 per month for the first six months if you sign up before the end of April...

I've installed and used it at one of our offices where BT took 12 months to install a short haul line to our data centre and we opened 6 months before they completed it.
Easy to set up, nice app etc. Speeds and latency were reasonable, and were often better than the 5G coverage in Manchester city centre.
Spliffyaid used to have it on his canal boat and was very impressed.
I've read that service coverage has improved seen them, but check the price isn't for a single address. The pricing used to be two tier - fixed location (home roof etc.) and roaming (camping/motorhome).
The other factor (imo) is Musk and his views/actions, and whether you want to give him your money. I know I wouldn't use it myself.

Doesn't [insert name of chap fitting BMW engine to 2CV] have it?

That is the other issue. I looked it up and he owns 40-odd percent of the business. I really don't want to give that man any money.

I've had it for over a year, no problems at all.
The pricing and plans changes every time I look. I pay €40 a month for unlimited, the equivalent package today is €59. In the UK it's £75.

So starlink is used in places like Ukraine for civilians and hospitals and so on and is also handed out for free in disaster zones, and yet you wouldn't give him money because of some hurty words?
Obviously you dont have an iphone, or anything with a lithium battery which uses cobalt from child labour mines, anything made in china which has forced labour in some factories anti suicide nets and all sorts, you dont have any clothes from the far east made in hideous sweat shops, chocolate or cocoa from child Labour, dont use. Anything with palm oil which destroys animal habitats etc,
Out of interest what has he actually DONE thats so offensive?
Me i like my cheap trainers.

We've been using it for a year and a half. Currently getting about 230 down and 40 up. Works fine for streaming, video calls for work and for online gaming incl fps.

I never said offensive, just unethical. It's reported he blocked use for Ukrainian troops in Crimea, he fosters a toxic workplace and his links to Trump are not to my taste. I'm not elaborating any further as we're going off track and against forum rules.

He often spreads disinformation, and I both dislike and disagree with his views on breeding, immigration, transgender folk, women, etc.
Any further elaboration takes us too far into politics for this forum.

His internet works though. My choices are a barely functional microwave link, 4G or a very good Starlink connection. What would you choose?

Indeed. That is my current quandary - morals vs speedy internets. I am quite shallow, tbf...

That was my choice on the island, I chose 4G. Friends had Starlink and AFAIK all of them found it good.
I took the 4G option when I was effectively living by myself. I don't stream , game nor do video calls so it was enough for me. I noticed on my last trip back there is a dish aerial on the house, probably Starlink. I'll ask my estranged wife about it.
