My latest thing. It arrived today, having been collected and posted on by a generous chap from here. They can admit to it themselves if they wish.

Looks like this:



A brief look over and fiddle suggests it's all there and working, just not very well. Most of the lubed areas weren't and some of the bearings are going to need looking at. The motor runs, but thermally cuts out automatically. I can see a small red glow inside when it's running.

It'll need taking apart, cleaning and having its vital statistics checked. Once that's done I'll decide what to do with it.

No worries about naming me, more than happy to be of assistance, although I got the ‘what the hell have you bought now’ look from the Mrs when I said I needed to collect an ebay purchase

I was a bit keen on the clipping and took off the final bracket.

I'm surprised it arrived as quickly as it did, I wasn't expecting for another week.

My dad used to have one of them running 8 hours a day in his workshop.
It was the first thing you heard when you walked in ,cutting away.

I've been looking at them for a while now. I've a lot of repetitive cuts to do soon, artists:rolleyes: I've tried a slow running cold cut Stayer saw, it needed coolant and was very messy, and I've currently use a Rage saw, both of which need operator presence. I'm hoping this will do the job while I'm doing something else.

Always fancied one as my arms are getting (even) weaker..... I've ended up using an angle grinder for anything more than 3/8" or so. Pathetic.

I've never been good at cutting straight with a manual hacksaw hence the reliance on powered saws.

I have one, it's a bugger finding 12x1in blades.. It's a heavy fucker, took 3 people to lift it into my truck.

Hope someone can help - I have one of these Kennedy mechanical hacksaws that’s come out of my old dad’s workshop and have no idea of the value?
Looking to sell as at 85 he is going into sheltered accommodation and raising as much as we can from his old workshop tools
If anyone knows what they are likely to fetch as can’t find anything similar in the usual eBay/markeplace/gumtree listings

Hello and welcome.

Pricing of these things is unpredictable from what I've seen. I sold this one as the motor was beyond economic repair for IIRC £70 plus postage. It was also missing the pulley cover and the vice had been repaired untidily. Good ones go for a lot more, £200 ish sometimes.

Searching for 'Hexacut' might give you more listings.
