I'd love to have one.

Love this bike, for no other reason than it was featured in the first bike magazine I ever had.

I'm obviously a similar vintage to Tiepin as this was the first bike poster that went up on my wall! Still love them.

Another of those things that didn't quite happen was a colleague had an RGS, promised a go, but never quite got arranged.

Another was a ride in the Pioneer Run.

A big hairy arsed man's bike,if ever there was one.

No doubting it's iconic place in biking history.

It'll take 20k to own one now,but they never were a cheap bike.

IIRC the Jota was a 'hot' Mirage (or something like that).

The Jota was 'specced' by Slater bros (the UK importer), rather than being created within Laverda itself.

The Mirage is a 1200, the Jota a 1000, not sure on the specs of the Mirage, the Jota and Montjuich were both specced by the Slater brothers and had high comp pistons and lumpy cams, I think the later ones were imported by 3 Cross Motorcycles (Roger Winterburn I think) and the specs changed

Phil Oakey of Human League fame had a very nice Spondon framed Laverda in 1985, though he said he'd sold it when I was chatting to him in a pub in Sheffield in 1991/2

I think they always were, of course the rose tinted reports of Bike magazine didn't indicate this, but all Italian bikes of the 80s were trouble (some of the Japanese ones weren't great either)

Probably one of the reasons they went to 120 cranks, less vibration ?

A Jota, a Monjuic or a Ducati Pantah were on my list of bikes to get in the early 80s. Ended up getting a Le Mans. At the first spot I worked I had my Le Mans on of the fitters had A Ducati Darma and one of the Electricians a Laverda Mirage. The only other bloke at work with a bike had a Neval Minsk.
