Seems one of these could be needed for my MT-07 and I can get adaptors for when I change the bike later on. I got given one of these with a 900 Hornet I bought, but never really used it as the bike had a centre stand. ISTR thinking It was a faff to use and didn't bother because the bike had a centre stand? But, as I say, I may need one now as the MT-07 doesn't have a centre stand and the hook bobbins are actually on the axle. Or as weeksys said, I could get swinging arm cups instead.

Have many of you got Abba stands? Do you recommend them? Is the additional front bar lift thing worth having with it if I did buy one?

Istr that the stand and bits for my CBR were more than that via demon tweets (not including the front bits.)
Haven’t used it much as I’ve not had time or inclination recently.
I fell safer using it than a Paddock stand on my own.

Hmm, that alone would be a good reason for buying one. I hate putting bikes on paddock stands. Its not something I've done often and I've had more near misses than successes!

I’ve never ever bothered with the front lift because there was always ways to do that but as for the Abba superbike stand it’s well worth the money.

I’ve had quite a few over the years, 3 in total I think but for whatever reason I always seem to sell them on when I’m either moving house or coming away from bikes for a year or two. Wish I had kept one.

I've found the Abba stand to be a boon with the Speed Triple. Just much more stable and allows access to bits that a paddock stand obscures. Much easier to work on the bike with an Abba stand and stable so long as you have a level hard floor to use it on.

Had one for years, brilliantly simple piece of kit, takes about 2-3 minutes to get the bike up on it and it's rock solid.
I've no use for mine now, but hanging on to it in case the time comes when I get a bike again that it'll work with.

Thanks everyone. That's enough endorsements, so i've ordered one, noting Wull's comments about the front lift, so I've left that out.

The Pink GSXR is up on one at the moment.

The swingarm removal kit is worth it, it'll fit most bikes so you then don't need to keep buying fitting kits when you change and it's only a 5min job to fit.

I had sold that one and then with this bike I wish I had kept it, I had to rebuild the front forks and as usual still managed to get it done albeit it was a total pain in the fart box.

Aye, got one, like it. I went halves with crust for it about 200 years ago, not sure he's ever even seen it.

I use an Abba stand as it's the easiest, most secure way for me, a smallish person, to get their bike up single handily. I've learned to check that the adaptors come out with the stand as I've lost a couple where they've remained on the frame and fallen out somewhere - who knows where. Well worth the extra pennies.

I have one and it is about 30 years old now. Last year I bought the addition bars for it that attack so it allows you to lift the whole bike.

Sometimes a little fiddly to use - but solid and works - and has been used on Kawasakis, KTM, Buell, Ducati, Triumphs, so pretty flexible ...

I bought a Abba stand last year after a disaster with my paddock stand.The paddock stand is the type with hooks that rotate under the swing arm bobbins & one of the hooks slipped off the bobbin as I pressed the stand down & the weight of the bike should have been taken by the stand.Later I read that the paddock stands with hooks have been known to slip off the bobbins & the type with a fork that fits under the bobbin is more secure.
I decided to buy a Abba stand instead of the other type of paddock stand & I have to say it's a lot more secure.
One thing with the Street Triple is that it's a proper PITA to refit the rear wheel,lining up the spindle,brake caliper & rear wheel,with the Abba stand the rear wheel is raised higher which gives you more room to line everything up.
There's a good tutorial video on You Tube 'How NOT to fit a Abba stand' where someone gets it wrong & then gets it right,he explains what went wrong so no one else makes the same mistake.
Another bonus with the Abba stand is that it takes up less storage space.I wish I bought one years ago HTH

Thanks everyone I feel good about my purchase now. I actually feel even better as its now being paid for by my kids for my birthday prezzie! Wish I'd stuck the front end lift bar on now and mugged them for that as well!

I've got an ABBA stand, but I'm not very keen on it, I prefer paddock stands

I bought an Abba stand years ago when I have an ER6 liked it so much a few years later I bought a Abba Lift Uses the same attachments but allows you to lift the whole bike. I have a R1200RT and use it regularly to lift the bike when servicing and deep cleaning.

Still got the stand as well but its never used should sell it really but CBA

Last time used my Abba stand was to take the Ohlins shock from my last GSXR about 3 years ago. Prefer the paddock stand for normal jobs.

Great bits of kit. I never use my paddock stands now. The front lift works well enough when you get the bike up,but the actual process of pushing down on the rear while tightening the strap can be a bit of a faff. I probably don't do it often enough.

Learn from this guy's mistakes and don't overtighten the swinger mounts.
