Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?
Bit of an update to the Nissan leaf, it’s still a great cheap to run car. Enjoyed it so much I’ve bought myself an ID Buzz van to go with it. I was still paying £250-£300 a month diesel in my van so that’s now £35 in electric instead. The ID buzz is superb, a lot quicker than the leaf as it has ...

Shoulda gone to Specsavers, they do hearing tests now.
Why so aggressive?

On top of the ticket prices, you'll also have to undergo a thorough check of your social media history for the last 5 years and hand over all phone numbers and email addresses used in the last 10 years, presumably to check for any negative mention of Dear Leader.

We have Ohme and Octopus Agile and tbh have no problems. Never used the Audi side of it at all, just had to ensure the car and Octopus are both connected to the Ohme app so it can manage everything.

Re: Descaling a kettle??
We live in a hard water area and my approach is multi-stage:
1. Make sure the kettle has a mesh filter in front of the spout so you don't get the bits going though
2. Get a little iron wool ball thingy to chuck in the kettle to attract the limescale. Got from La Range for a quid or so
3. Use the ...

I agree with hatstand: range anxiety seems to be a bigger issue for non-ev owners. I have had to recently stop at the services and charge- but I was with my wife, we had a coffee and a loo break and then on our way again.
I can leave home here in LA with a full tank & would only have to stop ...

I dislike Black Friday as much as anyone (British), and I'd agree that most discounts are a rip-off in that things are charged at what they ought to be.

I use these, bit of kindling on top, add bigger wood as it develops / as needed

We use the same things. very easy to light and work well.

1. Put 2 or so small logs in first, at the bottom, lengthways. Dry as possible, but not too big or too dense. If you have oak etc, leave it till later.
2. Nestle a firelighter between the logs. ie. have it sat directly on the logs but ideally with space above, so angle the wood into a bit of a V ...

There was a time when, if you wanted a camper van in the SE you just turned up on the South Bank in 'that London' (behind the Shell building iirc) where there was a linear village of Australians waiting to sell their campers to the next lot of incoming Ozzies so they could either fly home or rent a ...

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?
Apart from not wanting to change my car right now the biggest sticking point for me may be as minor as where the charger plugs in, any car with the socket at the front is probably off the list.
Seems to be totally unstandardised currently. Some at the front, some the back left, some back right ...

My missus's's's work lease Q4 is up in Feb, so after 2 years of trying an EV she's had to make a decision as to what to get next.
She's very adventurous so has gone for...
...the same model Q4.
Different colour though, so there's that.

Re: New build houses, yeah or nah?
I bought a new build back in the early 80s. Came home pissed up and took the first right off teh main road instead of the second right and spent ages trying to get into the wrong house!
I did that once, albeit staying at a mate's parent's house after a very drunken NYE.
Funny now ...
