Re: Thread repairs

I used to work for a firm that reconditioned turbochargers and we used the V-coil inserts. 4mm up to 12mm threads in cast iron, steel and aluminium and never had one fail. They always felt much stronger than the original threads although we didn't carry out any proper testing.

Also, never give your child a name they will struggle to spell.

And that's aside from the issue of phonetic Irish names ...

Also avoid hyphens, apostrophes, umlauts etc etc, even in the 21st century 99% of computer systems can't cope with them

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

Did you send that to them ? and if so, what did they say/do ?

I emailed some pictures to the supplier, they replied that that was how they all were. I could either send it back for a refund or keep it. At the time there was either Delkevic or Motad that did replacement headers, and the Motad ...

I bought a set of Delkevic headers for a VFR750. This is a view of how the joint between two pipes was formed

A manufacturer that considers that to be acceptable doesn't deserve my money

Re: How much do you spend on a motorcycle exhaust?

I had a Quill T3 on my 955i Speed Triple, it was quiet at low revs but still sounded really good when you revved it.

I bought Arrow exhausts for my 06 Speed Triple 1050. £650 back in 2014 but that was for 2 silencers and link pipes

My 2010 Speed Triple has Arrows too, but they were a factory ...

It's very good, but A Light in the Black is better, imo. Dio is awesome, one of the best rock vocalists as you said

According to the BBC yesterday, 35degrees C is “unsurvivable” so it seems probable that if you are reading this, you are one of the few Homo sapiens still alive.

It has rained here every day for ages and this morning was bright and sunny, but more rain was forecast for around midday. The grass really needed cutting, but it takes an hour and a half to two hours to get it done. I started, thinking I'll get one bit done at least, but the rain held off right until ...

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?

I took my bike for its MoT test this afternoon, to the little backstreet place I've used for years. It failed because of the numberplate, the same 8x6 one that's been on it for about 5 years :( Apparently the testing requirements changed on April 1st this year to include the plate

Llandovery is a great base for exploring Wales. I stopped in a pub about 10 minutes out of the town a couple of years ago and got very happily lost in the roads north up towards Aberyswyth.

There's a nice campsite a few minutes up the road from the pub in Devil's Bridge where my wife and I stopped ...

Depending on the model of bike it may be possible to convert cable to hydraulic as another option.

Regarding span,I use ASV levers on the Zed. Very fine adjustment.
A mate of mine converted a Ducati Darmah to hydraulic using Honda VFR parts
