Re: JAPton blog

To eliminate backlash as a cause try coating pieces - one by one with a thick grease.

You could also try a turn of cloth tape around each cam lobe in turn.

Re: How do I find the last year of production?

The 600 Monster was produced until 2001 when it was replaced by the 620.

Re: E-bike motors and the arms race of power !!

Why isn't anyone using a Pinion then? (Yes I know a few are)

Its not like ebikers are short of a bob or two.

Can’t derestrict it reliably, I think I only know one person that has an ebike still restricted, 15mph isn’t enough 20mph would have seen plenty happy with that.

Re: Return to bikes.. how it's going

Excellent, another 900 Duke on the road

Got my monster on the road a week or so back, the first ride was awkward at first, got more instinctive gradually. Needs a good long ride to get back into the groove properly I think.

Good luck with your re-intro. Any plans for trips out?

Re: Monster rustoration

Passed MOT this morning, no advisories :bblonde:

Went for ride, hmmm, not good, feels like tyre is flat except I know it's not as I pumped it up yesterday. Once up to speed it's ok but at low speeds not good.
Pop in to see Mr Weeks for coffee and catch up. While I'm there tighten up a couple of ...

Re: Exercise bike

Happy to help, plenty have helped me along the way, just passing it on.

The idea is that with the arch of your foot on the pedal at the bottom of the stroke the leg is slightly bent, this is so your hips don't rock as you pedal.

You should be able to have a still, shoulders relaxed posture as you ...

Re: Exercise bike

Loosen the knob on the seatpost that should allow you to raise the seat so your knee isn't so bent at the top of the stroke.

Ideally, your leg should be slightly bent when the pedal is at the bottom and the arch of your foot is on the pedal,

If enough people sign, then maybe. Or we can be apathetic and nothing will change.

Petition about stolen bikes

The police reaction to my bikes being nicked was:

Here's a crime number, than you and no we won't be turning up. What about taking finger prints of stuff they touched, nope. Clear CCTV of the perps, upload it and then we can close the case.
There's CCTV of it showing which way it went, not ...

Re: Hybrid Harley

Nice, unobtrusive and easily reversed.

I wonder if the batteries are recharged when it's running on petrol? If it does that would give it a massive range and usability.

The BMW motor is all well and good but a bit under powered what you need is a V8.

They were in one of Richard Hammond's smallest cog episodes. He does the paintwork for them. It's two blokes in a shed.

Good luck to them but I'm not seeing anything special about the bike. CCM couldn't sell enough bespoke small single cylinder bikes to survive, this doesn't look a lot different ...

I thought i gave you the Abba?

You did, it's a bit of a pain on the monster because of the rear sets.

I went round to the motorcycle parts centre and bought some Kawasaki steel bobbins, only issue was they have an M10 x 1.25 thread and I only had 10 x 1.5 taps. Amazon delivered the 10 x 1.25 ...

Re: Monster rustoration

Got a bit ahead of myself there, still stoked at finding forks on my doorstep.

So on sunday I dragged the bike out, literally, the tyres were flat. Stuck it in garden and surveyed the situation. First belts, needed it on stands, the everso kind Mr Weeks had sorted me with a bundle of stands when he ...
