All things BBQ / Smoker

Post by MrLongbeard »

OK so I'm getting a new Weber, but the BBQ threads in the last place were good reads and informative, and 'tiss the season now we're likely to be at home more.

Some ribs from last year, I'm gagging to rip the cover off the smoker but may need some thought on getting large hunks of meat at the mo.

After a massive garden clear out/up I relocated both the upright drum smoker and the combi gas/charcoal grill. CBA to clean and fire up the smoker in the morning so just prepped ready for a BBQ in the evening. Jerk chicken thighs, rump steak with tex-mex rub, onions/mushrooms/garlic/peppers for the pan and some sausages for the kids. Oh and corn on the cob out the freezer we picked last year.

Ah, balls. postiamge.org is down at the minute. Pics to follow...

If the boredom gets to me I may make a smoker, but know nothing about them. I have various old gas bottles, anyone have a good plan rather than using a random off the interweb?

Yea, that's the one. If you get one I'd suggest using better nuts and bolts as the ones supplied are made of kit kat wrappers. Other than that I'd very good value for £150. Build quality isn't awful, but a bit wobbly. I've had mine a year (might be two) and I might pop a couple of braces on it and give it a lick of paint. Make sure you get a good cover, If it gets wet the fat trap fills up and goes manky as fuck.

Man fuck up and waste all this chicken

Still lessons learnt, I didn't realise my starter chimney was a small un, plus using crap briquettes from a garage forecourt bought last year that didn't burn cleanly at all.
