You can install Mint 20 from a USB stick, it how I do my mine.

Think my trouble s crap pen drive. I can only find the cheap ones i git for music in the van. Ill have a hunt later for my better ones. I did download mint 20 last night what was a zip rather than iso. Do i just un zip that to a fat32 formatted pen drive and boot from usb or need the iso and use something like Rufus to create a bootable pen drive?

It's been a while since I did it - but IIRC you need something like Rufus to write the ISO to the USB whether you're making a bootable USB or not - I'm not sure if you can just drag the ISO file onto the USB drive - you need to overwrite the USB's existing ISO (or something)
