Headlight Restoration Kits

Has anyone used such a kit to restore yellow/cloudy headlights? If so can you recommend a particular brand or are they pretty much the same? Can you achieve good results or is it best to use a polisher?

I used a cheapo kit with various grades of sanding pads and polishing pads. The results were 'ok', certainly better than they were before as it's getting rid of the majority of the external scratches and yellowing. But presumably that still leaves a lot of yellowing on the inside of the headlight?

I've just used whatever car polish I've had kicking around on a microfibre cloth and it's generally worked pretty well. I think the sealer is some kind of UV protector to stop it happening again quite so quickly but I've never bothered with it.

I've used the round pads you put in drills. Last job is UV stuff and leave in sun to bake. Pretty good results tbf.

I've used a Holts kit in the past. Worked better than anticipated.

You can even use toothpaste!

I did my FTO headlamps long before the kits were a thing.

Just finer and finer wet and dry with plenty of water and finish off with some rubbing compound.

All done by hand, I got a blister!

Foolishly I didn't do a before pic!
But Mr MOT mentioned the discolouration/opacity of the lights as an advisory, so went to work with 2k wet and dry, and finished off with 5k.
