Re: What was your first road bike?
My second bike was the earlier 'sloper' CD175 twin of 1967/68 vintage. 82mph downhill, with a following wind...

Re: What was your first road bike?
Given a Puch Maxi by my history teacher as a non runner, sorted in about 2 mins!
Then like druid, a k4 250!
Wish I'd kept the Puch to be honest!

Re: What was your first road bike?
16: Garelli Rekord.
17: Kaw S3 400 with 250 side covers. Took my test on it & then bought a '75 H2. Was in London by the end of the year working as a courier. Had a fairly decent income from a side gig as an undocumented herbalist/pharmacist & was buying new bikes about every 3 months. Moved from London 6 years later & it took a while to move 18 bikes. Wish I still had the bikes I sold while living in London (Jota, 900SS, LeMans, Z1R, Z1000H, T160V, several Kaw triples etc... bugger bugger bugger).

Re: What was your first road bike?
Suzuki TS100, failed to get round to taking my test in 2yrs, so got a yrs ban & bought an xt250 and rode around like a saint for a while, passed test on borrowed c90 & got a ratted xl500. Not sure any of those really qualify as road bikes - so Morini 500 is the answer.

Re: What was your first road bike?
I am sure we have done this before, but mine was a BSA C12. IIRC 1957 vintage, and a piece of crap too. Which muppet designs a bike with a fixed rear sprocket actually built into the wheel?

Re: What was your first road bike?
Ariel Leader (250 2 stroke twin) when i was 18/19. Ah yes… it cost me £33 - I beat him down from £35.
Applied for test 3 times, 3 times the bike broke down, so…
Fast fwd till’96: bought a non-runner Super Dream 250 from a farm for £40, fixed it, did my test. That was my first “real” road bike. Px’ed in (£450!) for a Bandit 600. Then I was flyin’!

Possibly, this was 34 years ago and I've had a few bangs to the head since.

Re: What was your first road bike?
A tired CX500 I bought for £200 and fixed up, followed quickly by an XJ600 and then shortly after that by a couple of ZZR600s, then a Ducati 900SSie, and I've been Ducati ever since, monsters, SSs and STs, think I'm on about Ducati 14 now (still have 4 of them).

Re: What was your first road bike?
A D10 Bantam which I passed my test on followed by a 3 year period of buying all sorts of random shit for peanuts instead of buying one good bike. At one point I had 14 all at the same time it was like a scrap yard including: A C200 like mangos bought for a tenner, KH250, RD250E, XS250, GT185, B100P a fizzy, B25, never finished Triton etc.
