She's been given seven days 'til the policy ends, so she needs to get her arse in gear and bring it back home. Alternatively, she has off-street parking in the halls, but I'd feel happier if the car was where I could see it.

She did say that the Aura Insurance told her that she would not have to declare it as a cancelled policy as it was a case that the underwriter simply wasn't quoting that postcode. Not sure how accurate that is, as I've seen the letter emailed from Aura that clearly states that the policy has been cancelled.

And suddenly I find myself stressing about it all. Why? I bloody told her not to take it. The cheapest insurance I can find, and not declaring any cancellations, is £2,100. I suspect it would have been that much come renewal anyway, but it's still bugging me.

Be careful, off-street may still be a public place, and if so you do need valid insurance. Also, if it is not insured it needs to be SORNed, or they will catch you for that.

Well, just to update....

Car, and said child (and boyfriend) are currently back at Chez Gremlin, along with the offending vehicle. After getting all medieval father and cursing said child and threatening to cast her away, Mrs. G calmed me down with a dog chew and a pat on the head and convinced me to part with a substantial amount of money to once again insure child to drive said car, but under the strict condition that it stays rooted at Chez Gremlin, like a tethered swine. Child has agreed and has also undertaken to pretend to be mute should her insurance ever need to call her again.

I even had to make her bloody Nutella pancakes this morning. What kind of mug am I?

We're all mugs. My daughter has passed her test this week, first attempt, only 2 minors, which is brilliant. Auto Toyota Aygo 1.0, cheapest quote £2350. So muggins has paid it, well monthly anyway.

C'mon, it's well known that insurance costs have risen dramatically due to stupid stuff like writing off very minor damaged vehicles, the abuse of hire vehicles etc.

I'm not saying that youngsters aren't a bigger risk, I think I know they are from the many times I've had to deal with them.

Even my insurance company tried to triple my policy this year, i obviously didn't take it and found a cheaper policy, but still went up by quite a lot. As for risk, I've never claimed in 27 years, so they should bloody well be paying me by now

Spray and polish out a scuff on the headlamp plastic: about £250

If she'd been an inch closer and trashed the headlamp, let alone any other bigger bodywork costs, replacement light units are £900.

I'm not saying it's not annoying etc, just that it's not ridiculous. I'd say it's quite logical that insurance has gone up. We should go back to the good old days when cars were cheaply repairable.

The increasing number of EVs can't be helping. Cause some minor damage to an EV and the insurance company writes it off rather than risk it exploding and them being liable. So it's not just the EV drivers who have increased premiums, it's all of us.

ABC claims management source a hire car from ABC car hire and charge it out at £350 per day to ABC claims management. ABC car hire source the car from enterprise at £80 per day.

Mrs. G dropped me down to our local high street where parking is strictly verboten, so that I could pop into a shop quickly. I came out and saw she had turned the car around and had stopped at some lights. I ran to the car and jumped in to find her laughing. When I asked why, she said that my running has turned into that old-man style of run, where there is increased body movement but no increase in speed.
