The very best wishes to you and the missus,I harbour no doubts on your ability to beat this.

Re: ** An Announcement **
Bloke I used to work for often used to get what he called acid reflux, he reckoned it was pastry and so on causing it.
Fast forward a few years and I heard he has cancer of the esophagus (sp?) and that was one of the symptoms of it.
Went into hospital, has a section of his esophagus removed, the rest stretched to where it needed to go and sewn up.
Saw him a few months ago, happy and seemingly (as far as I could tell and he said anyway) well.
So in his case it was fully treatable if not exactly comfortable for a while.

Re: ** An Announcement **
I was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer about 20 years ago. It turned out to be benign, but in that time the oncology team were very clear my chances were slim. I have had the full blown acid reflux for decades ( gastric oesophageal reflux disease) and have been taking esomeperazole ever since. Years of alcohol and smoking.
Treat is palliative or chemo/radiotherapy or surgical. The latter can help. From a prognosis perspective, and from about 20 years ago ( so science may have shifted this) the cancers with the lowest chance of survival were lung, brain, oesophageal and ovarian. All tricky to operate on.
Laryngeal (throat cancer) is still nasty- but better prognosis
Fingers crossed you’re recovering somewhere.
Fuck cancer

Re: ** An Announcement **
Just reading back on this thread. Hunter?! Had to laugh, he was telling everyone where he sloped off to sleep off his hangovers at work in the office - on one of the old boards. He obliging added which company and which office (Dublin iirc but it was a while ago) without considering if anyone worked (or might be a bit 'management' for the same lot).Taipan wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 10:01 pm Damn. Always fancied a drink with you and hunter back in the day. Maybe our lifestyles catch up with us as i'm under investigations myself at present. Its about the journey right. Hang in there...![]()
No, I didn't dob him in.
