I got ID'd as in actually asked to produce my licence for buying energy drink. I said to the brat "I'm 46, I have 9 kids and a granddaughter, my hair is grey and I'm clearly over 25 so just hit the button." He refused and the manager had to be called.
Dunno if it's the same now, but when I worked in a supermarket aged <18 you weren't allowed to make a judgement on whether someone was >18. You either needed ID or you needed to ask a grown up to make the call for you.

It's obviously pretty daft if the customer was 57 or whatever, but if you're a bum fluff faced teenager fresh off the training course and afraid of being fired....
This was in Tesco, there's actually a button that asks is the customer clearly over 25, they guy wasn't a scared wee teenager either, he would have been an early 20s hipster with a stupid waxed tache amd a man bun.
He must have been more of an issue than being ID'd! :D

Three days of mourning have been announced at Chez Gremlin. :(

It suddenly occurred to me yesterday that I hadn't seen two of my favourite shirts for a while. Both were purchased in Italy and both were of such style as to make grown men weep tears of envy upon seeing them. I searched high and low, in every wardrobe, the ironing bag, Gremlinette's wardrobes, suitcases, the washing baskets, all to no avail.

I last had them in Thailand. I suspect they're still there...

I did that with a whole drawer of my wife's underwear, also in Thailand. Last time she ever asked me to pack for her

I bet there's a Thai fella batting away all the birds as we speak....

On the plus side, it gives me an excuse to spend a few days in Bologna to restock the wardrobe.

I've finally done a load of sorting out of kitchen stuff - moving most of the supplies to under the bed and keeping some on the shelves of a kitchen 'trolley' thingie.

I had put a big jar of malt extract on those shelves cos I had a plan to make some malt loaf later.

Won't be doing that :( :( :( :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

Dementia is really BMP right now. Just got a call from a very upset Father-in-law as my Mother-in-law is adamant she split up with him years ago and wants to go home to her partner. I think our live are about too change quite dramatically. It was inevitable this would happen, just hoped as she was 93 she'd slip away before this awful disease got hold of her.

Sorry Pietin, I know exactly what you're going through. My mum has dementia and some of the things she says are truly upsetting and shocking. Pre care home was a nightmare. Police involved, companies calling me to get her to stop bothering them. She even escaped from hospital once. She's a month off of her 92 birthday and shows no sign of slowing.

My warm August monsoon is now dreary British April drizzle.

That's not bust. Bust is when the bearings and seals go, exceeding the capacity of the tea tray it was sat on in the loft and leaks into the master bedroom.

Is that better or worse than a seized motor getting hotter and hotter until it smells like it might catch fire I wonder.

Daft thing keeps on trying for ages even after I've turned the shower off, I had to go get to isolator switch in the airing cupboard behind all my carelessly shoved in old duvets and crash helmets.

Pah, the one I had that leaked was plastic, I was surprised it had lasted as long as it did.

I replaced it with a metal bodied one with brass fittings, it was £300 so I hope it lasts until the rapture.

Well...if you're hoping metal bodied, brassy three hundred quid ones last until the rapture, I may have bad news for you.

Don't worry, the water leaking will put the fire out
