My mate was riding his "gravel" bike along a nearby country lane when 5 scrotes on 3 mopeds/125's, two of them without helmets on (wearing balaclavas) kicked him off. 6K bike trashed, badly bruised and shaken up, he spent 45 minutes on the phone to the police to be told we can't do anything, it'll be impossible to find them, the incident gets posted on local social media and the police response comes in for justifiable criticism, especially as the area of town they originate from gets pinpointed by a few posters as they are seen regularly casing motorbikes and push bikes (Eastbourne has a bad bike theft issue at the moment). He gets a call from the local police Sargeant saying we've seen your post, we think we know who they are but we're still not doing anything about it. He's done a bit more digging and probably the same scrotes kicked someone off their push bike a few weeks ago and they ended up in hospital with a collapsed lung! FFS.
Same scrotes are seen regularly riding their 'peds illegally in the local forest and tearing around the car park and still no police intervention.
Yeah - but if anybody actually did anything the Daily Heil would be plastered in
"INNOCENT TEENAGERS PERSECUTED!!"
"My little Aaaron wouldn't hurt a fly, lovely little kid he is, them copas are just fascist bully boys" says Charlene (21), mum of 8."
... type stories.
and YES - I DO know that makes me look like a less-than reasonable person - but sometimes reason has fuck all to do with anything these days.
How things have changed.
Many moons ago I came back from the pub to find my dirt bike had disappeared. Pissed off to the max, phoned the law up, and told them I could hear it blatting around the local scrote estate.
'not a lot we can do ATM sir'
'dont fret, I'll get it back myself'
Went for a 'walk', saw bike coming down the road towards me, kicked the handlebar/brake, scrote went down like a sack of shit. I then 'explained' to him how displeased I was.
I phoned the police back up to tell them I'd got it, a copper was round in 20 minutes wanting a statement.

He needs to play the game and make it one of their priority crimes.

He's at a disadvantage being a man but if he claimed anti-social behaviour by an organised gang then he might have got a better response. He could identify as a woman, it might help.

They didn't quote secret priority 4: Obey all commands from OCP executives.
Working in central London, I have colleagues from most of the home counties. Seems most have lost faith in their local Police forces as most forces won't respond to crimes such as shoplifting, anti-social behaviour etc. They claim to respond to violent crime but the reality is often "they don't have an available car in the area".

Give her a bread knife and ask her to cut a slice of bread.....you get angles only Pythagoras could dream of
Filly's the same. Just hasn't sunk in that if you press on the loaf for cutting through the crust, the loaf will collapse.

I may have read this on here (can't remember where so apologies if you've heard it).
Bloke phones in a crime. Gets the usual 'sorry no cars/manpower available'. Says 'Oh, don't worry, I've sorted it. I shot the bastard. I was just letting you know'.
Neeenawww! 5 cars, half the force there pronto.
Copper - 'You said you shot him!'
Bloke - 'And you said no cars/manpower are available'.

That always struck me as a good way to get banged up for "wasting police time".

If it actually happened, then yup. I think it's made up.

That one may have been, but I think it illustrates that telling a lie to get a response both works and happens.

It was a few years ago now (5?) I was told by a policewoman, how two of her colleagues were being physically attacked in Tavistock town on a Friday night, they radioed for help. It was 45 minutes before anyone was available to come to their aid. By which time, they'd both taken a right kicking. It's not just 'us' they don't have time / resources for nowadays.
People on HOOOOGE tourers with pillion and luggage who want to ride really fast up a mountain road but in doing so seem incapable of staying their side of the white line even in the face of oncoming vehicles - ok, the oncoming vehicle was a bike, and I could move over a few inches but FFS!!
I fully expected to deal with oncoming cars on my side of the line, but really hadn't expected bikes to try and push my off the edge of my side of the line!!!
Don't get me started on having to wait for some bikes to take a hairpin uphill. I could see them arriving so they could see me, but still used all the road so I had to stop and wait!!
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!

Didnt Theresa May get rid of 20000 police officers? Must be frustrating to be a well intentioned police officer working under those conditions.
WHAT WAS CLAIMED
The government has reached its target of recruiting 20,000 more police officers in England and Wales.
OUR VERDICT
This is correct, based on the increase between 2019 and March 2023. But the rise follows a fall in the number of police officers in the years prior to 2017, and there are currently only around 3,500 more officers than in 2010.
Motorbike wankers... There's a bit of a bombhole in a particular woods near me. Not much use for MTBs though in truth, but a lovely fast trail there.
Well it was a trail until it's been completely mullered for 800m and about 4m wide by dirt bikes, just complete slop, mess, massive ruts, bloody garbage. RIP really nice trail.

But it gives you an opportunity now of practicing riding on less than perfect surfaces. That's got to be a good thing.
