Re: Is KTM in financial trouble?
One of the reasons I normally avoid his channel. That and his ill-concealed gloating at KTM's problems. Having said that, the KTM saga is an unfolding clusterfuck and makes me wonder just how long their MotoGP presence will continue. And how will this affect Moto3, where KTM supply more than half the grid (albeit under the guise of badge engineering)?

They're owned by Bajaj auto though, which in turn is part of Bajaj Group, right?
They play the part of a flaghship classic European brand in a big Indian/Multinational firm? They don't need to stand on their own feet in quite the same way.
Maybe

Bennett's said, in 2023:
In 2007, Indian automotive giant Bajaj joined forces with KTM, buying a 14.5% stake that it would later extend to 46.5%, owned via its Dutch subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV. In 2021, Bajaj swapped its stake in KTM for a share of Pierer Mobility AG, which now owns 98.2% of KTM.
Wiki says:
In 2021 Bajaj Auto sold 46.5% of KTM's shares to Pierer Mobility AG in exchange for 49% shares in the latter company[25] and thus became an indirect stakeholder in KTM.

Re: Is KTM in financial trouble?
They're part-owned by Bajaj (i.e. Bajaj have a minority stake) but KTM/Beirer Group have the majority holding.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 3:02 pm They're owned by Bajaj auto though, which in turn is part of Bajaj Group, right?

For now, at least. That could easily change...

Re: Is KTM in financial trouble?
I believe Pierer specifically structured the Bajaj deal so that they'd not be able to take over KTM itself. Not that I understand how.

Re: Is KTM in financial trouble?
The current share price is not far off what it was from 2005 to 2013. It was only from 2016 to 2023 that the share price went seriously inflated. So its current level is indicative of its longer term value.

Re: Is KTM in financial trouble?
It's got to be a factor. There's talk of there being 100k unsold bikes, but it must play on your mind buying a KTM at the moment that your warranty/dealer might be gone in months or your deposit gets swallowed by receivers etc.
