I used to do the same with my 2000 miles s month commuters. Buy something (usually 600 Diversions or GT550's but the occassional 250cc bike/scooter) with decent tyres for around £500, run until tyres needed replacing, sell it for at least £300 ,buy another eith decent tyres for £500.Noggin wrote: Wed Dec 25, 2024 12:28 pm
A mate of mine used to change his bikes when the tyres needed changing!! I remember the first time a bike he had needed and MOT and a new chain![]()

Think he's still got that one!!

Worked well enough for me for a few years for me without ever getting lumbered with a bike

Skub, do you trailer your bikes to the photo shoot;) very clean...
I took mine to the local Ind' Est' for practice riding (it looks like a skidpan but was gritted up) Sunday so quiet but it was salted and so bike looked white 'n mucky after a few mins and needed a washdown!

I think Skub lives in a sun soaked micro climate
.
It's thawed out in my part of the world, now it's raining,at least it's washing away the grit...

Skub has a very good back-projector set-up in his garage/studio.

It has been suggested before.cvilla wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 5:00 pm Skub, do you trailer your bikes to the photo shoot;) very clean...
I no longer ride in shitty conditions, always watching for a window of opportunity when the climatic conditions are 'baby bear's porridge'.It's an art form.
Aside from one cold snap,December and January have had some suitable days. Normally I'm looking glumly at you lot on the mainland getting out and about.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Managed to get out on the bike finally as the yellow burny thing was in the sky and I had a decent supply of tissues for snot and jakemans menthol for cough. Just under 100 miles and sooo enjoyable as the roads were mostly dry and the mud mostly washed away by traffic/ torrential rain recently

First chance to try out the new Rukka kit as well. Bit stiff and needs breaking in, warm as toast and zero draughts anywhere . High collar on neck needs to soften up as I had to leave zip down about an inch to allow some head turning but overall very very pleased

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
We got out for a spin, there was some debris on the roads but nowhere closed.Barry who went through 5 bikes last year has chopped in the Triumph Scrambler for a 650 Versys.I thought the Triumph would have stayed until easter but we're not even out of January & he's onto his second bike of the year
.

Considering the state of the roads I only had one moment,on the way home we were riding into low winter sun & I didn't spot a patch of gravel quickly enough, the back end stepped out but we stayed upright
