I never got the hate for his version of Dune, if anything I think it's better than the drawn out slightly boring Nolan version.dern wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 7:21 pm David Lynch just passed away. Made some of my favourite films and probably my all time favourite tv series. Weird and wonderful man.

Absolutely a once in a generation maverick. What a body of work he leaves behind. Twin Peaks was the most compelling TV I've ever watched. And his version of Dune was superb, despite all the naysayers.

He more or less disowned it and it's generally agreed that most of the fault lies with the producers. I thought it was OK but I started from a position where I knew the story pretty well. Some of the cast were great...but Sting..really? Mostly enjoyed the recent 2 efforts.KungFooBob wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 7:23 pmI never got the hate for his version of Dune, if anything I think it's better than the drawn out slightly boring Nolan version.dern wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 7:21 pm David Lynch just passed away. When he stuck to what he was best at nobody could touch him*. (Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks). They were all a bit toned down from Eraserhead though.
* although Wim Wenders got close at times

Had a message from my younger daughter about his death - she asked if we could watch Twin Peaks.
Looking forward to it (yes, I've already seen it).

There's a stand alone phrase that can be useful in its own right.

Realised he was last man standing but made it to 87.
(Which means I found out that Robbie Robertson died in 2023.
