Road bike maintenance day after yesterday’s horrible road ride. Chilly maintenance with a view.

Yeah it's cold in the garage today, i've almost finished the list after a small issue with his front brake on the Fuel (spare RSC we fitted) meant that i fitted a different one for his ride the other day... so that was sorted, the Session sorted. I need to get the Fuel for myself ready for FoD uplift on Saturday after being talked into it on NYE by a mate, however it's looking like 0deg .... nice.

Still got to get a brake bleed kit here for the DB8 to sell the Canyon Sender..

Alas one of the press fit BB bearings popped out very easily, I’m hoping it’s due to a warm bike being taken outside and the steel bearing cooling and shrinking quicker than the burnt toast and horse hair frame. I’ve put it back in with a small amount of bearing retainer glue to hopefully stop it spinning up. Pleased to report both bearings filled with @millemille grease were looking good with one getting a full flush and repack (the one that fell out) and the drive side just needed a top up.

It's been filthy round here recently, then NYE the roads were decent so went out on my dry bike (not the Trek in the pic) and when getting it ready noticed the headset was goosed. Took it apart and top bearing was fine, bottom had siezed, managed to free it off and lube it good enough to ride, new hs bearings on order.

A chilly -5.6C commute this morning, only one scary moment where water run off from the fields had frozen on an off camber country lane for 30m……somehow stayed upright on my skinny 25mm tyres…..eek!

Went out last night. The first challenge was at Truleigh Hill the visibility became about 4 metres. So we dropped of the back and rode bridle paths to Henfield

I think I have come back with a whole field attached to the bike

Went for ride round Richmond park, only managed 30km, wanted to do a few laps but could be arsed to be honest.

Anyways was nice, got harassed by some little crows.
Saw some wicked venison walking around.
Then made the lad clean the bike as it was due one and he’s pissed me off 😂😂😂😂

Morning Zwift race for me and a P1, I rode it perfectly and attacked multiple times but couldn't split fully, but must have tired a few out
Last lap she guy split it, but on the false flat I closed it to 3s and a guy on my wheel took the last 3s back for us. I held his wheel and as I closed the gap I kicked with 300m left and held for the win.

I then cycled outside a couple of hours later to the farm shop it's only about 8 miles round trip but mostly up on the way there 😊😊
