Small four letter work what starts with a C springs to mind. Our local skint council is looking to reduce 60 roads to 40 to accommodate these idiots. They have a shared path with the pedestrians yet dont use it and try to command the traffic on the road. The road must be a good 10 miles long what is a main route to the A1 for a town so the commute for them will be slower/longer. When the A1 is shut this road gets used as the diversion yet these idiots still want to dice with 40 ton trucks. All Boris achieved with his new cycle laws/rules is more hatred towards them. The new 20mph areas do make them a tad more tolerant though.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 5:45 pm
Oh and if was so concerned I was 'breaking' the 20 limit why did he speed up to chase me?

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
More something that's makes me chuckle without fail.
Watching a BBC drama-lite with Mrs. G last night and there's a plotline where one of the characters is riding his bike in London to get to a family party. His partner leaves him a revelatory voicemail professing her love for him...
Me and Mrs. G turn to each other and say in union, 'He's about to die'.
30 seconds later and the inevitable coming together of character and van, the obligatory shot of the spinning bicycle wheel and the frantic rushing of other characters along hospital corridors.
Gotta love a cliched plotline.

It's the same in the vast majority of "drama" series now: if there's any camera attention at all paid to "mundane" activities, it's fecking obvious that a catastrophe is about to happen.gremlin wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 9:57 am More something that's makes me chuckle without fail.

We've been watching "Greys Anatomy" recently: the instant a vehicle enters the screen you KNOW it's going to crash.... ambulances included.
It's no wonder that fear of flying amongst the tv-watching demographics is high, no flight is ever safe.

TV writers don't need AI, the plots write themselves these days, the only differences are the amount of botox in the actor's bodies.Count Steer wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 10:48 amAnd they wonder if AI will impact on the creative industries. And why do the makers of TV bombs always provide handy colour-coded wiring and a convenient countdown timer that bleeps loudly, thus giving away the location of said fiendish device and also how long's left to disarm it*?

So it has been since time immemorial. Well, 1974 at least although they managed to blow David Hemmings to decorative wall coating before the 'cut the blue wire'* sequence with Richard Harris.gremlin wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 11:20 am And why do the makers of TV bombs always provide handy colour-coded wiring and a convenient countdown timer that bleeps loudly, thus giving away the location of said fiendish device and also how long's left to disarm it*?

Nah you'd do it the other way around. Count down to zero and then keep going. Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Hospital food. Yeah, honestly.
I've been going to the private hospital on average once a week for last 3 months.
Very well run, and when we're done, straight into the cafe.
Lovely grub. Mainly sarnies and small baguettes, Canarian stylee. Bloody scrummy
Washed down with freshly squeezed orange juice and fantastic cafe con leche.
All enjoyed with the sea view.
Makes hospital visits fun

I'm emigrating! Last time I was in hospital they threw a slice of bread at me, when I asked they said it's 'toast' but we're not allowed to toast it cos it's health n safety innit.
Ooh who remembers hospital ice cream in the 60s, like bars of soap wrapped in paper? Almost made it worthwhile being ill.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
My experience of hospital food was that it was mostly edible. "Mostly" because one day I decided that, since the health "experts" are always encouraging us to eat less meat, I'd order the vegetarian option. I didn't make that mistake again.
