Champions. Good effort from the cast and well done Woody for taking such a role. Not sure i'd recommend it, but I did enjoy it.

Wowsers. Just watched The Six Triple Eight.

This true story just blew me away. So powerful.
If you cried during Lassie as a kid, be careful.

I'm glad I watched it alone.

Bank of Dave 2: Loan Ranger

Bank of Dave was a nice homely tale about a man who took on the banks and won. And with a bit of Def Lepard unnecessarily thrown in at the end.

Bank of Dave 2: Loan Ranger is a heap of shit and everyone involved should be embarrassed. Nobody sat in the editing suite and said "Wow".
Dave gets involved with payday loan sharks - who are american gangsters. Through some quirk of aboslutely awful script writing, Dave ends up in the USA to serve the writ on the gangsters, who try and kill him. And he is saved by Def Lepard !
And the government changes the legislation because of what he did. And then Def Lepard turn up a the celebratary karaoke. What a crock of shit!
The good bit was Def Lepard looking suitably embarrassed.

I suspect they were thinking about the money.

Just noticed an article about 'Earth Abides' being on Prime. Really liked the book. Anyone watched it?

Well, I watched Episode 1 of 'Earth Abides*' on Prime. It's OK but they've updated it to present day. Probably cheaper to film than making it the same era as the George R Stewart book of 1949. Prescient - virus has wiped out almost all of the humans on the planet.

Then, it says that to watch the rest of the mini-series (3 more eps) I have to subscribe to MGM+. I could do the 7 day free trial but...nah.

Saw the first episode - striking similarity to 28 Days Later in the first third.

4 series to catch up on, but it's been a while since there was a decent scandi crime noir series to get my teeth into, no idea why they appeal to me, they just do.

I think the only series I've seen is 'The Bridge' - which is very Scandi (Denmark and Sweden) and very noir.

Don't remember jumpers being a big feature though. :D

Edit: does The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo count? I've seen that. (Both versions iirc).

The jumpers are a Sara Lund thing, from The Killing ("Forbrydelsen" in the original language). That was the first scandi crime drama to make it big outside Scandinavia and it's still the best IMO.

I too looked into buying an actual Scandinavian woolly pully and baulked at the price :D

Oh BTW, with The Bridge you can replace "Jumper" with "Car".

The millennium trilogy original films nearly count, not quite there though for me.
Never did see The Bridge, but can totally recommend The Tunnel https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2711738/
