Mickey 17, based on the book Mickey 7. Hopefully its captured the book.

Bad Boys for Life. Will Smith film. About the only good thing I could say about twa it had a MT09 in it but even then I bailed after 1/2hour.
Unforgettable. As much as I like Katherine Heigl, this was like a Hallmark film and just crap. I assume its title is a malapropism...

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Got taken to see the latest Bridget Jones film last night- cinema was absolutely packed, but I was genuinely shocked to be one of only two males there - seriously- wall to wall, err, ladies
Anyway, it was absolutely cracking entertainment, great script with loads of laughs , and some quite touching bits in it too- far better than the trailer makes it look IMO
Highly recommended for miserable old feckers who still enjoy a good laugh (and don't like to admit they are a bit soppy really

Your Place or Mine with Reece Witherspoon and Ashton Kucher. Painful. Dont bother.
Freedom Writers. A predictable ending but is based on the true story of teacher Erin Gruwell who changes the lives of naughty ghetto types. Michelle Pfeiffer made a very similar film back in the 90s. Dunno if that was based on Erin Gruwell, but there are parallels to be drawn. I still enjoyed the film though, triumph over adversity and all that...

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Started watching 'Virdee' on iPlayer. (I've read the books by A A Dhand, odd they've started with book 3 so they've mixed in some of Harry Virdee's family stuff).
It's a gritty police thing set in Bradford, drug gangs, serial killer, a DCI that bends the rules a tad...shades of one of the Silence of the Lambs things in places maybe too.
Bradford stars.
It's changed a bit since I was there!
So far...

Today I watched Jennifer's Body.
I feel like a proper old perv, but Jesus Christ was Megan Fox fit back in 2009.

Watched the first two episodes- seems like a Yorkshire version of Kin.Count Steer wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:53 pm Started watching 'Virdee' on iPlayer. (I've read the books by A A Dhand, odd they've started with book 3 so they've mixed in some of Harry Virdee's family stuff).

Four Good Days. An accurate performance of the effects of addiction, with stirling performances from Glenn Close and Mila Kunis. Harrowing, but unapologetic.

I know I'm late to the party, but I'm currently very much enjoying Ted Lasso on a free Apple TV trial.
I might bin off Netflix and sign up to Apple as Netflix is going downhill fast in terms of content.

Must be an age thing, I've got Netflix because daughter has it, there's sod all on there so far that I've watched, but she'd not spend coin if there wasn't any value in it for her.

Gave up on Prime too. Anything I want to watch I have to pay for and that's on top of the prime membership.Yorick wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:52 am We have Prime and it's absolute shite. Only about 30 films to choose from![]()

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Trouble is, the offering has been fragmented over multiple platforms as studios & distributors look to maximise revenue. So rather than have one or two platforms with a good offering we now have Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, etc., etc.Yorick wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:52 am We have Prime and it's absolute shite. Probably better to flit from one to the other every few months as long as there's no lock in.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Just binned off Paramount, I'm all caught up with Yellowstone and Landman (I totally recommend) and there are no new Star Trek series due so bye bye.
But you have reminded me that the latest's series of Reacher is on Prime, so need to dip into that

Talking of D'Niro BOGOFs , just finish watching Zero Day. A tad far fetched as usual but entertaining all the same
