Scarified front and rear lawn, tinkered in the garden generally, had a guy quote for external paintwork on the house - kerching!

Took 2 of my grandkids to the cinema and for something to eat.
Nearly 125 quid for an afternoon out!!
Just glad it’s only an occasional treat.

How many plates short? Our local Tesco is selling 4 place dinner seats for £20. That is the price, not a local sale of old stock so your end should have them also.Taipan wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 9:01 am Bought another leg of lamb. Fortunately not, it’s the field course at the top of Pencraig.
Pretty obvious that they want them out and they’ve put so many conditions on that it’s pretty much impossible to conform to them. They’ve been there for decades but someone has got it in for them.

Off to the AHRMA races at Willow Springs, then when I get back I'll be giving the ZX11 a quick spiff & pre-flight for tomorrow's run to the RockStore.

The Willow Wankers sounds a cool sponsor. Like that other Moto2 and wimminz class sponsor. I think it's meant to be KLINT,but from my chair it reads KUNT.ZRX61 wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:40 pm Off to the AHRMA races at Willow Springs, then when I get back I'll be giving the ZX11 a quick spiff & pre-flight for tomorrow's run to the RockStore.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Weds evening and Thursday we had a fairly spectacular storm here. Ok, it does usually snow in April but this was very heavy wet snow and an awful lot of it!!
Driving back from work at about 11pm Weds night -
Looks ok there but all the hairpins it was a bit of a battle to keep the car going - yes I should have bought chains but we've not had much snow this year; no I will not buy the same tyres that were on the car when I bought it ) they're shit!! Yes, I did get the speedo up a bit higher than I was actually going as was very determined to get home!!
Was already quite a lot of snow by the time I got home!!

Thursday -

The worst bit, the tunnel out of the valley was closed )

So, as the road was also closed from resort to the valley, I sat and sulked as was gonna miss my date night. Then a friend told me some vehicles were coming up so I decided to head to the train station and get a train to Chambery
Got to the station in time, bought a ticket online, went to the station to check which platform and it was a bastard bus
So I got back in the car and drove cos, if a bus could go through the tunnel, so could I !!!
Disaster averted!
Probably the most interesting drive down the mountain in 9 years - mostly due to remnants of fallen trees as much as the snow!!!!
Interestingly - there's always a handful of tourists that get pissy cos they can't ski - even when you can't actually see the piste for the weather!!!
I did calmy explain to one FB whinger that, as the road was closed, hardly and pisteurs/lifties were in resort to work, so the pistes couldn't be made safe and the chairlifts couldn't be run
He continued to whinge tho - bet he'd be the first to complain if they said the pistes were open but he got injured in an avalanche!!

Off to the Third Sunday Kaw meet at the RockStore on the ZX11. Turn out will probably be low as it's Easter & some of the guys will be at Willow today. Bike is pretty much running straight Blue Juice.
Pre-flighted/spiffed the bike & charged the cam batteries yesterday, spent some time this morning locating my kit.

Re: What have you done today thread?
More transfers. Every time I go to the valley I pass a little orchard between the nearest two villages.
The storm on Weds/Thursday has devastated most of the trees.
It's quite sad to see how many of the trees at the side of the road came down, but I think they are mostly fast growing trees. But the fruit trees look really old and now very broken

Not sure how well the amount of damage shows up in the photos, but it is very sad

Removed the seat belt 'stopper button' on the middle seat belt in the VW, and replaced it on the correct side of the seat belt plug, so that the belt can actually be used
Only discovered this was an issue when filling the car with people to go and see War of the Worlds in Newcastle a couple of weeks back, as the back seat is usually only occupied by the dog.
On the subject of the dog, fed him his daily vet-prescribed calorie count through a combination of chicken, pate, ham, and sausages. Despite appetite stimulants he has zero interest in standard dog food, and it's this or use his feeding tube - so he's currently possibly the most spoilt dog in the UK.
Also went and picked up a ramp to help him get in the car, as he's a bit weak/wobbly. He, of course, then flatly refused to use it.
Oh, and I've painted half the living room.

Re: What have you done today thread?
The last time I was a m/c courier was 1988... You'd think I would have mellowed in my old age, but no.. ran up on some slow moving traffic on an LA freeway this afternoon & without even thinking about went into Dispatch Mode: High beams on, drop down a couple of cogs & start hammering through the traffic like I had a paycheck resting on it.
FFS, am I supposed to outgrow this idiocy at some point? I even got a quick display of sirens from an LASD cruiser as I went past , did I slow down? Did I fuck.

Got my electric bike out of the shed-of-plenty. I lost the key to it well over a year ago and its been languishing in the shed-of-plenty every since. Turns out the key was in it all the time!
Battery was still charged, so a quick pump up of ter tyres and it was good to go!

Re: What have you done today thread?
I was feeling a bit down in the dumps today so after contemplating a few options (mainly bike buying even though I have zero space!) I bought myself a new private reg for my Hayabusa project. There is method in my madness. I am planning on selling the bike once I actually get the thing finished, and I think the new plate will add interest. Otherwise it was a waste of money.
But it was not expensive.
I also cleaned and sanded down the rear wheel from the Busa. The rain has stopped, so I think I will go out and mask it up in readiness for some fresh paint for tomorrow.
I hoovered the carpets as well, seeing as Mrs Dixiethedog is at work (on a Bank Holiday!). Just so that she does not grumble about me doing "f*** all".

Re: What have you done today thread?
Woke up feeling like I fell down a few flights of stairs. Breakfast will be an Advil sarnie. I was playing the part of a young hooligan yesterday & the ZX11 may have seen over 2miles a minute.. actually a hair over 2.4miles a minute thanks to this here calculator.
& while I was close to that velocity, I was passed by another bike that made my progress seem positively pedestrian. I didn't even see what it was. It was mostly white. Saw him coming in the mirrors, moved to the left & he went past like I was on jackstands. Briefly gave chase, but within about a minute the fucker was out of sight... WTF??
Will have a look at the video today & see if I can identify what it was.
