It’s a 2001 r1100rt with 40k on it. Pretty tidy although that doesn’t really matter and the engine sounds perfect, really quiet and smooth. Got it for £500 because the gearbox is broken and I don’t need that.

Those panniers are worth £200 easy, you'll get your money back on the rest of the plastics no worries.dern wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:23 pm Not so much salt on the roads so the 2cv is mot’d and out and about in its new home in Norfolk. The first step will be stripping it down, working out what I need and what I don't and ebaying/scrapping the rest. I should get a few quid for the bits.Rockburner wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 8:12 amThose panniers are worth £200 easy, you'll get your money back on the rest of the plastics no worries.dern wrote: Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:23 pm Not so much salt on the roads so the 2cv is mot’d and out and about in its new home in Norfolk. Do you use the BMW efi or the Citroen carbs?
Or is there a megasquirt project on the horizon?

It'll use the whole bmw throttle body, injection system with the standard ecu. If I can find one I'll see if I can get a power commander for it but I think that they've been discontinued. I'll see how it runs without it and go from there. Emerald are based in the same town as me so that's an option if it really doesn't run how I want it.KungFooBob wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:16 am Do you use the BMW efi or the Citroen carbs?

I've just got an insurance quote which is much better than I expected so I'll order the conversion kit later today. It'll be a slow build though with other things going on.

Re: 2CV6 Project Thread
Look for a John Gemi chip. It's a complete replacement ECU chip that fits into the Motronic box. Find the guy on Facebook and tell him what your doing. He could probably make you a custom chip specifically for your use case. He seems easy to contact and talk to from what I've seen.dern wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 11:00 amIt'll use the whole bmw throttle body, injection system with the standard ecu. I would claim dibs on the panniers, but I've already got 2.5 sets....dern wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:10 amThe first step will be stripping it down, working out what I need and what I don't and ebaying/scrapping the rest. Let me know if you need anything. I'll be selling the 3 panniers with the ignition lock, the tank lock and the locks from side panels together with 2 keys. I won't be rushing to strip this all down though I'm afraid.Rockburner wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 11:39 am

I spoke to John Gemi (if that's his name) and he's sending me an ecu for my application this week. I should get the adapter kit this week too. I just need to clear the decks of other projects and practice my stainless exhaust welding and away we go.

Re: 2CV6 Project Thread
Finally motivated to get it out of the van as I need to pick up some furniture for my daughter. Took it for a run up the road and I can't see that there's anything wrong with the gearbox. Rides like a bloody lump though, don't feel bad at all splitting it for parts.
The fitting kit for the 2cv has arrived as well as the John Gemi chip. I just need to clear the decks of projects and start stripping the bmw down in a couple of weeks.

Re: 2CV6 Project Thread
Get in touch if you have any questions about servicing etc. I don't know everything about them - but should have the basics covered if there's anything that's not clear.dern wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 3:26 pm lump.jpg

The gearbox "issue" may have been a lack of knowledge about how they're best managed.

Will do, thanks. You don't know what the downpipes are made do you by any chance? I need to cut and weld them. I'm assuming stainless but will have to check if I can't find out.Rockburner wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 3:30 pmGet in touch if you have any questions about servicing etc. I don't know everything about them - but should have the basics covered.dern wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 3:26 pm lump.jpg

Re: 2CV6 Project Thread
Yes - stainless. IIRC they're not that thick. I've only cut the entrances to the catalyst off and they're 5 minutes with a hacksaw - the main downpipes won't be much thicker.dern wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 3:32 pmWill do, thanks. Re: 2CV6 Project Thread
I've put together a quick list of parts I can sell. I checked on ebay and basically undercut all the prices and none of them seem that unreasonable to me. I've concentrated on the crash damage parts...
Parts to sell Price
Full fairing 150
Luggage and lock set 150
Wheels 100
Clocks 50
Headlight 30
Screen motor 30
Rear light 30
Handlebars 30
Main fairing frame 50
Rear subframe 30
If I get anything like that I'll make my money back and get a free engine. There's a load of other smaller stuff that probably isn't worth that hassle of ebaying.

Those prices look excessively reasonable to me. Beware of getting your arm bitten off...
