My pal once showed me that WD40 did wonders for the black plastics on my GSXR1000
Less than 12 months that'll last, even if you went through the rigmarole of cleaning the plastics properly beforehandTaipan wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:24 pm : My eternal quest to cure faded plastics came to and end today. Owatrol Polytrol was painted on and rubbed in with a cloth and seems to have worked really well.
12 months seems like a fair return on effort provided it looks a bit better at the end of the 12 months than it did at the beginning. Once a year maintenance seems OK.MrLongbeard wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:57 pmLess than 12 months that'll last, even if you went through the rigmarole of cleaning the plastics properly beforehandTaipan wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:24 pm : My eternal quest to cure faded plastics came to and end today. That’ll be eleven months longer than anything else I’ve wasted money on!MrLongbeard wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:57 pmLess than 12 months that'll last, even if you went through the rigmarole of cleaning the plastics properly beforehandTaipan wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 4:24 pm : My eternal quest to cure faded plastics came to and end today. Boil enough water for 2 mugs.Saga Lout wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 10:26 am Three simple rules that nobody I know seems to be able to follow (or maybe they think they're unimportant):
You must warm the pot.
You must use boiling water.
You must put the milk in the cup before pouring the tea.
Hey, I take my tea black so I'm not going to say you're wrong in how you prefer yours, but it ain't right
Yes, you can do it that way, and you end up with "a liquid which is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea*".Skub wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 12:57 pmBoil enough water for 2 mugs.Saga Lout wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 10:26 am Three simple rules that nobody I know seems to be able to follow (or maybe they think they're unimportant):

Use half to heat the mug.
Empty water out and fire in a teabag.
Pour in water and mash the fuck out of the teabag.
Add a load of milk.
Drink.![]()
I was told that while that technique does work extremely well in the short term, it also damages the plastics and they become much more brittle ?KungFooBob wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 5:14 pm I used a heat gun on my Transit Moho to get the black back, worked well.
No idea how long it lasted, I sold it 6 months later.
And why do Crocs have holes in the top?
If that was my daughter I'd be checking the current condition of anything I owned...gremlin wrote: Tue Apr 29, 2025 8:39 am I think the Gremlinette has been kidnapped by aliens and a doppelganger put in her place. When do I call the authorities to report this heinous intergalactic crime?
