Mate had his stolen from the bike parking area outside Snow Hill police station, with policemen walking in and out as well as CCTV. Marked up van, Xxxx Motorcycle Recovery, Clipboard with paperwork on it and no-one batted an eyelid. Plates on van were fake of course.

Many years ago in Milton Keynes my RF900 blew it's engine to bits racing my mate on his Blade.
Was only about a mile from home on A5 near Stoney Stratford.
Didn't bother trying to get it home.
Drove past next day and it was gone.
New ZX6R a few weeks later.
But that blew on 2nd day and Kawasaki let me upgrade free to ZX9R

I just lost my secure parking at work and am out on the street now. TF I no longed have the X-ADv, but i'm still worried about the AT.

Always amusing here when Brit tourists show up at the RockStore on rental bikes. They all park together then start running cables & chains through frames/wheels etc & spend 10 minutes securing the bikes.. failing to notice that they're surrounded by unsecured bikes where many of them have the key in the ignition...

If you do it, put a cover on it, as an additional security measure in addition to your locks.

Considering a lived in Edinburgh most of my days i am yet to have a bike stolen. Rented flats in some shit areas and always parked on the street. Go to the cinema safe in the knowledge you are fully comp.

If you specify that use a certain lock and your bike is stolen whilst another is being used, they won't pay out even if it was a better lock. The lock you specify forms part of your contract with your insurers. It may not be the case with every insurer, but it was with my old one (Bennetts?) and i posted a picture of the clause on here sometime ago. Worth checking your policy...
