If it means I get rid of the bits I don't need quickly then that sounds good to me. I hate the process of selling stuff. If one person offered to turn up and take the lot away in a van for a low ball offer I'd bite *their* arm off.

That was a mission. Next step cleaning, painting, fitting the adapter plate and clutch. Then to start stripping the 2cv down.

Finally for today some other bits are removed. Next step is to pull the engine. The gearbox has to come out for a small modification too.

No. The fan connects directly to the crank on the 2cv engine. The bmw engine has an external oil cooler which may have to be enlarged and fitted with electric fans, we’ll see.

Cheers.

Ah - ok. Given that the engine is partially air-cooled (as designed) are you going to look into any other means of feeding air over the barrels?, or do you think the air-flow through the grill will be sufficient?

Are you keeping the BMW alternator (I'd guess you might be?) I hope it's height (on top of the cases) doesn't interfere with the bonnet, mind you - it looks like the engine is pretty low in the chassis so is that actually an issue?

I think that more air will flow over the barrels in the car than in the bike but I can make some ducts if that’s not the case.

The alternator will fit and takes up the space where the fan/carb would be.

Dry run fitting the gearbox to the engine and the engine bay ready to accept them both.

I have to pause now while I wait for a part for the gearbox that's broken. Next step is to get the engine and gearbox in place in the car so I can make some engine mounts and start to plan the exhaust.

As we previously owned a red and white, plus green and white 2CV dolly. I'm really interested and excited to see how this goes. I won't mention it to my wife; she'd want one again. Cracking little cars.

Will you be fitting an oil temp gauge? Loving this project and a "car" mate a work is interested as well.
