Bluetooth speaker
I have jsut dumped the old hifi separates from my man shed as a) 9 years of winter damp as ruined them b) I never used it
I am looking for a robust bluetooth speaker
Research suggested JLB Flip or Charge % would be a good option
Or Anker Soundcore Motion Boom /soundcore motion
Ideally under 100 GBP - doesn't need to go mega loud but needs to sound good to my ears (even though I have hearing aids)
Any suggestions?

Re: Bluetooth speaker
I got an LG Xboom recently for a little under £100. Nice sound and looks but it's hard to connect to sometimes. Can't really recommend it.

Re: Bluetooth speaker
I was gonna suggest a Sonos Move (2), until I read the £100 bit.
Mine is very good tho', switches between streamer/smartspeaker and Bluetooth at the press of a button and the sound quality is great. Works well with other Sonos stuff if you have it.
Actually the Roam is a bit cheaper, still not in budget tho'

I have Sonos in other rooms in the house. I feel it might be over kill for my needs (and out of my price range)KungFooBob wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 7:46 pm I was gonna suggest a Sonos Move (2), until I read the £100 bit.

The RRP on the smaller Roam is £170, but you can occasionally find them on offer for £130.Mr Moofo wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:18 pmI have Sonos in other rooms in the house. Good speaker, mind, decent battery life too.

Re: Bluetooth speaker
Portable?
If not, how about a Sony HT-SF150. A TV sound bar also Bluetooth. Available under £90.

Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.ChrisW wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:38 pmHoly hand grenade!KungFooBob wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:32 pmHa, you'll never be able to unsee it now!ChrisW wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:31 pm I'd never noticed...

Re: Bluetooth speaker
I've used a JBL flip 5 for several years and provided you don't want stereo it is very versatile and robust with a long play time on each charge. More expensive stereo versions are available but I haven't heard them in action.
For best value the Creative Pebble V3 is even more versatile because it provides a stereo pair of speakers and can work via a direct USB connection to a computer/laptop or via Bluetooth. It does require USB for power and I sometimes use a small "power bank" device to provide this if no computer is involved. Downside is the wires trailing around to the secondary speaker and the power supply.
Neither of the above could be described as HI-Fi , I would say radio quality but can sound pretty good.

Re: Bluetooth speaker
I've had the old version of this for years and it's fantastic. Sound quality for the size is superb, it's waterproof, robust and battery lasts forever.
This new version has USB-C and can be set up in a stereo pair if you have two. At 30 quid a pop they're a bargain, and for your 100 you could set up two that'll be a lot better than any single unit.
Mine has sadly gone missing recently but I'm secretly glad cos I get to buy the new one (or 2)

Re: Bluetooth speaker
Yeah, they make good stuff generally. Apart from those million power banks they had to recall the other day for fire risk, but apart from those...
My BT speaker has literally never caught fire even once.

Is 6 watts of power enough?
