When should a trackday be cancelled

Post by Scud »

Been to Snetterton today, standing water all over the track and still raining hard, didn’t even noise test the bike.
An instructor stated to us that it was dangerous, even on full wets his bike was spinning up with the slightest touch of the throttle.
MSV have told us that the track was fine to use, I disagree and can’t believe they thought it was actually safe - I’d bet no race series would have let riders out.
I’m not particularly bothered about no credit, you pay your money, you take your chance, but the fact that msv actually deemed the track safe for essentially amateur riders.

Let's say 120 riders at £200 a pop, that's a £24,000 refund.

MSV have always been twats.

They should have insured themselves for cancellation.

I was an instructor for them for a while and hated it. Money was far more important than happy punters.

It was £135 today, only 40 riders booked on of which 22 turned up. Not massive money, their safety briefing video is all about having a safe, fun day, seems they forgot the safe bit today

If it was only £135, I'd have just gone out and tried riding in the rain and testing the tyres in safe environment

I've only seen one cancelled EVER and that was because of snow...That said, we were actually prepared to ride it :D

BUt i completely agree there are times when it's unsafe for most and should get cancelled. BUt i guess their argument is that if you ride appropriately it's safe.... but safe may be 30mph all round.

I had one cancelled at Cadwell due to wind and rain, MSV gave me some money back, can't remember if I claimed it or not.

Snetterton is okay in the wet, but it was pissing down yesterday, I've had a couple there where I've done the sighting laps and thought "fuck this" and gone home.

New supercorsas aren’t renowned for their wet weather grip.
I’ve no wets on wheels with the new bike, but to rub it in my zx6 that I sold at the beginning of the year did have some - and the bloke who bought it was in the next garage

Never seen them that bad, they dry out quick but if it's got standing water that's dodgy. Book as late as possible may be the way this time of year. Just looking now, you can book novice at cadwell tomorrow, reserve for other groups.

Donnington Monday has novice and advanced places left. Oulton Wednesday novice, inters places. I fancy one soon, I'll hang on and see.
