Re: premium bonds.
I've won something, don't know how much yet but assume £25.
I stuck another £5k in there for the missus recently and this month is her first draw. Haven't heard any whoops of delight yet.
Update: £100

Having bought quite a lot of these this month, I obviously expect to win huge amounts of money immediately in November!!!
(So that'll probably be a big fat 0 for me!)

Re: premium bonds.
Iirc, if you buy this month then they won't be eligible for a draw until the month after next. They have to be in your account a full month. I might be wrong tho'.Nordboy wrote: Mon Oct 06, 2025 2:36 pm Having bought quite a lot of these this month, I obviously expect to win huge amounts of money immediately in November!!!![]()

Re: premium bonds.
On the NS&I site there's a bond which pays 4.04% for a year. If you've got the maximum amount in Premium Bonds, by my usually wrong maths, you'll need to win more than £166.66 every month to do better than the fixed rate investment.

Close enough. (50k * 4.04 / 36500 *365)/12 = 168.33Pirahna wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 3:59 pm On the NS&I site there's a bond which pays 4.04% for a year. I know I'm a killjoy with PBs, and if you enjoy the flutter, go with it, but there are better gilt-edged investments out there.

Is the bond thing tax free? If not, that 168 reduces a bit for equality.gremlin wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 4:13 pmClose enough. You don't get the thrill/disappointment of getting/not getting £100k or £1M with a bond. PBs are a bit of safe gambling (and better odds than the Lottery

Re: premium bonds.
I had a sparkler this morning, that's worth £50.
Tax free and 12 Christmas mornings, kind of.
