Day of wins so far:

Contact lenses have finally arrived in stock, so booked in for the trial from Sunday

Plywood for cabinet project arrived first thing, 7 x 8 x 4 of 3/4 Beech faced ply which needs cutting down to rough dimensions before bringing into the house to store flat

Hit another milestone in terms of weight loss - 906 ounces, 19830.58 scruple, 25.7 kilograms or a shade over 4 stone in old money.

Today I've been mostly driving a bus ! Not weird but - this is the biggest bus I've driven, ever !!!



The other longest is the service bus for a wiggly road between Brides les Bains and Salins les Thermes and comes in at 12.97m

Todays is only 14cm longer (behave!!) but I was very nervous cos it's way taller at 3.70m !! And weirdly I think those 14cm made too much difference !! LOL

But I succeeded in not hitting anything . An even successfully did the three point turn in my village that I really really fubar'd the first time (only a 12.3m bus that time) - ok, I took two goes, but got it in the end and no damage to anything or anyone !!!

The London brewery shut down 20 years ago with all Guinness sold in the UK coming from Dublin. There's a new one to open in Covent Garden this year but it looks like little more than a tourist attraction.

Today, I have sorted all the wool I've collected and been given over a long time/many years and have filled a huge bag for life with stuff I'll never use

Ok, TBF, I've kept other stuff that I might not use but, baby-steps !!!

I've reduced the collection by about a third


I've sorted other stuff too. Currently waiting for a coat rack to arrive (Weds I hope) and to go up to resort on Tuesday (going up anyway for a doc appointment) to collect some storage stuff and a little table to put my tiny 'spare' freezer onto out in the shed. Then I'll be able to do yet more sorting out!!


The really big day will be the day I go sorting through all the huge amount of fabric !! As I've not been able to sew (properly or for long) for so many years, I've not wanted to throw anything away. Now I have space and a table big enough to cut out on and to sew at comfortably, I need to go through all the fabric and work out what I really will use or not !!! That's a challenge for a different full weekend off !!



Still proud at today's sorting out !!

Busy ol day, weeded the drive, got the wisteria under control on the rear extension, sorted the tank vent on the Himalayan and been out on it for a little ride to test repair and my new mesh armour jacket on a couple of lanes.

Jacket works well with a t-shirt underneath and my windproof soft shell over the top. Will spray the softshell with some DWR but also have a package waterproof which fits easily over the top which doesn't take up much room.

Pleased with the second lane I did as it was much trickier than I remembered and made it up with no dabs and little drama.

I may have instigated an international incident last night...

There were a bunch of pilots from the Test Pilot School celebrating at my local boozer. All American, except for one French & one German guy...
Was talking with one of the US guys & deployed the "Pierre The Aviator, the Famous French Pilot" joke.
The first time I told this joke in international company was at the O Club at Alconbury to some Luftwaffe guys, one of whom immediately walked over to the French contingent, told the joke & all hell broke loose. There were US, UK, French, German, Dutch, Danish, Italian (& possibly 2 or 3 other nationalities, Norway iirc) pilots in attendance & the brawl resembled the closing scene of Blazing Saddles.
Fast forward about 15 years & I had some Luftwaffe major walk up to me in a bar here in Lancaster claiming he knew me from somewhere, turned out to be one of the guys from the bar brawl at Alconbury.

US pilot is planning to tell the German guy the joke on Monday, he sits next to the French guy...

"Well, my name is Pierre, the French fighter pilot, and when I have red meat I like to have red wine!"

His answer is good enough for Marie and things begin to heat up. So she says: "Pierre,
kiss me lower."

Our hero rips off her blouse, grabs a bottle of white wine and starts pouring it all over her bosom.

"Pierre, what are you doing" she says.

"My name is Pierre, the French fighter pilot, and when I have white meat I like to have white wine!"

They resume their passionate interlude and things really steam up. Marie leans over once more and softly whispers into Pierre's ear..."Pierre, kiss me lower."

My old Boss was ex RAF, when he served in Germany, they and their Luftwaffe opposite numbers played a modified version of the old Flight Deck Game where you launched a plastic plane off a toy carrier flight deck and then it rattled along a thread before looping round a wheel and then you had to land it back on the carrier deck, controlling the plane by a joystick linked to the thread In typical competitive fashion they'd rigged it with a bomb that could drop.........the target was a model Dam. They got comprehensively beaten by the Luftwaffe

You can actually see the floor now and walk end to end without getting caught on handlebars.

Went swimming. The water was 12 degrees. Questioned my life choices.

Changed another microswitch on the mower. Which is about to get a match put to it.

Channelled my inner Noggers and baked a cake. (Chocolate and raspberry, cos my neighbour gave me a kilo of fresh-picked raspberries yesterday )

Gave the F350 a re-spiff as it looked like I ran the Paris-Dakar after I got home from Willow yesterday.

I happened to be seeing clients on the south side of York so popped into the outlet village to pick up a new suit and some shirts.

Suit was purchased first from Moss, one of their own brand “performance” range rather than the Ted Baker I was eyeing when the assistant approached. I tried both and the Moss one fitted better and had a higher wool content so the fact it was cheaper was a bonus.

I headed to Charles Tyrwhitt next for some shirts, the assistant there said I should be looking at slim or extra slim fit rather than classic , which I dismissed until she suggested trying one of each in my size, I started with the extra slim to dismiss it and didn’t look further, that’s 1.5” off the neck and down two sizes on the fit of the shirt.

Seven shirts picked up and another very nice and spendy three piece suit, two jacket sizes (and tailored fit) and three trouser sizes down from suit I had to buy for a wedding in mid April this year.

I jumped in the car and headed home rather than look in any more shops…

When I got home, no internet connection due to the Vodafone outage which put pay to any work.
