Heat treating completed, next they apparently go off to be removed from the plate along with polishing and finishing.

Awesome weekend here with him coaching with Katy on the Sat while me and Mrs Weeksy went house hunting. We then drove to Dyfi for what ended up being pretty much a British National day with anyone and everyone from Junior/Youth over and playing out. He spent most of the day doing exactly what i wanted and riding with one of the fastest UK racers in juniors and i spent the morning trying to ride some of the destroyed ClimachX trail.

There was spannering, coffee, banter and meeting up with paddock-parent mates... Proper epic day.

I'm knackered today though, the Dyfi weekends do take it out of you.

As you know, there's always stuff going on in the background. Like lots and lots of stuff... This week we've pretty much sorted 2 new partnerships, the first of which is STANS

ImageUntitled by Steve Weeks, on Flickr

They'll be support him for the 2026 season (and hopefully beyond that) with products, wheels, rims etc etc... First package arrived today.

Awesome stuff from Upgrade Bikes.

So this won't make a lot of sense to most here, but a few people from another forum may come and see it, i'll leave this here for a day or two.

Rockhopper, yeah mate i was banned. Well i still am for another 6 days.
Imagerockhopper by Steve Weeks, on Flickr

Not completely for the posting of something but for my reaction telling the mods they were out of order.

To clear up "what did i post", well it was exactly this above. The boy has now made it as a fully affiliated team rider on DMR, i didn't post any more/less on STW than the pic above that got me the warning (and the subsequent ban).

As you can see slightly higher up i COULD have posted a tonne of other stuff, with STANS coming onboard fully this week along with an incoming helmet supplier, but i didn't / don't due to their rules. However i REALLY didn't see my posting his DMR profile as breaking their rules as i'm not advertising anything other than him, i don't ask anyone to buy DMR stuff and i've not actually recommended it. There's other things like him being one of the only people on the new DMR pedals a few weeks ago which again, i didn't post as it was against STW rules.

The thing is, that a lot of the story of this journey isn't just about the riding, it's about the journey within and outside of that and things like sponsors is a massive part of that journey. I write things not to get him exposure as a sales person, but because i'm proud of the things he's doing, the things he's acheiving and the people who are helping us on our way, Whilst i agree we shouldn't 'advertise' things, i honestly don't see my above picture as advertising DMR.

I left STW after a ban and an absolute slagging off for posting conspiracy stuff on what started as the COVID conspiracy thread. The MODs would let some people (the regular big hitters) get away with outrageous stuff but if you weren’t a favourite or were a bit right wing then you were fair game.

Spiteful cliquey forum……avoid.

Sometimes I wonder “maybe I’m wrong” when things like this happen, so it’s nice to get some sanity checking.

The weirdest part is, in some ways it’s a fantastic place. But I can’t see an easy way to continue with the thread, especially when you consider things like him starting work, is that going to be pulled up as advertising every time that comes up etc.
so arguably it’s easier to just keep this thread here as there’s no conflict of interests or issues with advertising etc

So, if I went on there and announced I'd bought a Trek (or whatever) bike they'd claim I was advertising? :wtf:

I can't see how they can maintain any consistency on policy at all.

As said, sounds like a clique thing.

the only thing that jumps out to me about this photo, is that he's obviously really proud of his scouse roots

We're still not sure on the hair... but he likes it :D It's kinda the youngsters thing at the moment, so we go with it.

He's training an insane amount at the moment, putting in a shift evening after evening. It's impressive to see and seems to be paying results in terms of off-bike performance, we won't know till spring of course if that'll be a factor for the season. His coach is giving him lots to do and we've been discussing plans on "what happens if he's supposed to do XYZ but is out riding" etc... All good education for us both really.

This weekend is a testing day with 2 mates, they want to race faster so the boy is semi-coaching them for their race. It's something i see as being his 'thing' in the future, so something to work on for him in terms of coaching smaller racers. Will be massively interested to get their feedback and his.
We're then hitting a pedally day with Katy and Hattie.... I think i'll last about 30s on that one before i'm left wondering what way they went, and that's just on the uphill bits !!! But will be good to get out with 2 Pros as they're a different mindset to most other humans and i find it intruiging how their brains work and bits of knowledge both me and him can get from them. Plus, he always has fun with them as they're both slightly bonkers :D

Signed up to follow the journey. One of the very few actual mtb threads on abysmal stw site
Ive been banned so many times from there because i don't fit their typical forum member of being a northern leftwing road cyclist. I will piss myself the day they go bust, which can't be far off now.
Good luck with the future young weeks and keep the updates coming
