Trivia night at the brewery. Tied for 3rd (of 18) with 34/48. Froze our collective asses off on the patio, it was too much for the former B-i-L who ended up paying $72 for a sweatshirt from the merch shop.

Sat in our shiny, new, high-tech eco-offices.

I'm triple layered (t-shirt, knitted top and cardigan) and I'm still cold. The facilities guys have just come down with a laser thermometer and informed us that it's 13 degrees in this office :o . I think even Scrooge would have relented and let Bob put more coal on the fire.

If this is the green future, I'm out. Chuck another panda in the furnace and pump the heating up.

Gov.UK wrote: Workplace temperatures
During working hours the temperature in all indoor workplaces must be reasonable.

There’s no law for minimum or maximum working temperatures, for example when it’s too cold or too hot to work.

However, guidance suggests a minimum of 16ºC or 13ºC if employees are doing physical work.

There’s no guidance for a maximum temperature limit.

Employers must stick to health and safety at work law, including:

keeping the temperature at a comfortable level
providing clean and fresh air
Employees should talk to their employer if the workplace temperature is not comfortable.

Took dog out first thing, car was in the garage so completeLy free from snow, by the time I’d driven to the park, taken the little dickhead* out for20 mins and gotten back to the car, I had to clear the windows from the 1-1.5 inch covering of snow.

* affectionate nickname for a Labrador that won’t go out in the dark on a lead unless it is past midnight, has to roll in every muddy puddle he finds, has a daily roll in long grass, come rain, snow or shine, and Is scared shitless of loud noises.

But in better news, he’s no longer hiding in the pantry every evening, as the fireworks have abated, and is happy curling up on the sofa next to me each evening, even though there is a grand new dog bed next to the sofa for him…

I can currently hear the gas and electric meters spinning while I try to keep warm while WFH.

Came home to an unemployed wife! Over 18 years at a school but she'd had enough and quit. I didn't think she'd go through with it tbh, but she has. She has accepted a new job at the local hospital but no start date yet, so she is a now a unemployed layabout! :angry-cussingblack: Do people still sign on? I can at least get some income if i make a dole bludger out of her!

Central heating is zoned and smart controlled so I can heat the room I use as my office alone rather than heating the entire house.

The plan this winter is to move the home office into one of the loft bedrooms once that area has had the loft areas and knee wall(?) fully insulated, I’ve been hitting B&Q up every time loft insulation has been reduced in price. The other option is to go back into the smallest bedroom but that means getting rid of a bed I bought just over a year ago and essentially losing a guest room

I’m pretty sure I can manage to drag my ‘less’ fat arse up a further flight of stairs a few times a day, although a further coffee machine and flask for milk may become necessary purchase :D

In other news today, I’m finally back into double digits in kilogram terms having lost just under 4.5 stone since the end of April this year. I’m aiming for around a further 5-8 kilos of fat loss but expect to replace some of that with muscle mass given signing up to two muscle toning / building PT seesions a week and a personal goal of running around 5-6 miles per week which is bloody hard going in the cold and wet and boring as hell on a treadmill. I’m aiming for half marathon distances by the time Spring arrives

Today. Daughter to psychiatrist in the morning. Cooked lunch. Took dog to the groomers. Collected dog from groomers. Lovely dog. Gave her a rabbit sausage, she is very very happy. Had a meeting with a curate who is taking the school Eucharist tomorrow morning at my school, I'm glad to just sit back and enjoy the service, I'll be there as a Governor, not the Priest. Cooked dinner. Collected wife from another station as her other trains were cancelled, so she had to take alternatives, I have PCC (Parochial Church Council) meeting tonight. Lots to do!

Been working with setting up Microsoft 365 for our church, have 25 licenses, full suite for Outlook etc, so had the TXT records changes on the website along with MX records etc... So now we have domain email and lots of capacity! Will be a long battle to get people to use them though as they are used to "personal" emails for communication, but I am getting them into GDRP and Safeguarding compliance with this step, it also means other church wardens and treasurers etc will be able to carry on with a history of what has happened, access to files etc.

I think that is enough for today.

Drove up to resort this morning after putting it off whilst waiting for my winter tyres to be delivered !! They still hadn't arrived, so the mechanics at work swapped the wheels front for back as the fronts were almost slick

Only drove up cos there wasn't actual snow on the roads, mostly. On the roundabout by the garage I use they hadn't cleared the snow (TBF I don't think they'd cleared it most of the way up but traffic and sun and done the job) - managed to lose the front and rear on the roundabout! First time this car has squirled quite like that, kinda fun!! Luckily, cos I'm just disorganised not a complete muppet, I was driving with shit tyres in mind!!!

Loaded things into the car that I'd really wanted help with  (Oven and tool box, the rest was relatively lightweight and small enough for my 1.5 arms to manage easily!)

Had to empty the tool box into a couple of bags to make carrying possible.

Currently, some stuff is in the shed, some on the terrace outside the back door (I got as far round the house as the back door and gave up!) and the tool box got left by the front door!!

I have to go out tonight on a work thing, so I decided not to be a complete loon and hurt myself, so currently chilling and winding myself up to get a shower, cut my hair and get ready to go pick up a colleague and then head to a restaurant for dinner

Now to find someone with a van or trailer to bring the Monster down and then I have nothing left in resort :o :o :o

Just back from the works dinner. Damn it's tiring trying to hear conversations in French with music in the background (not always the background  ) and not quite getting enough to actually join in!! (TBF, with loud music and loads of people it really isn't much better in English!!)

I'm. not good in large groups of people when I don't know many. I know a few from our depot but there were three depots of people and the ones I know I only know for work, not socially :( Damn I'm tired

Was interesting occasionally - was offered Kir, Jus d'orange or Ponch - took me a bit to work out what Ponch was as a drink :angelic-green: luckily I wanted Kir.
When I realised Ponch is actually Punch but with a Fronch accent I laughed and had to share - given that my little evening bag has a handle like a knuckle duster, it did make the guys I was sat with laugh (three bikers, all work in the bodywork workshop and two drive as well). So bits of the evening were funny!

I was very much complimented on my hair and the fact that I apparently looked beautiful (I'd made the effort to put make up on! Maybe I should do that more often - but might still keep that for special occasions!). Although some of the guys were confused - I had heels on for the first time in YEARS, so almost three inches taller than usual

I'd driven so I could bail early if I wanted to and I did - didn't say goodbye to everyone, just a couple of people at the table and the three guys I'd mostly talked to who were outside smoking. As I was driving out of the parking space, one of the guys on our table who works in the office at the same depot came out looking for me - he asked for a lift back to Moutiers    - French isn't his first language either, although he's been here longer than me and worked in French a LOT longer than me, he was also knackered. So I did actually have a decent conversation on the way back (his native language isn't English, so we still spoke French!!).

Camomille tea and then bed - OH randomly messaged this afternoon to say he'd come over tomorrow if I wasn't working. Awesome as he's not seen this place yet - but worrying as I suspect he's about to end it; or he might have sorted his head out over the myriad of issues in his life (I do know about them and accept the issues for the time it's gonna take) and we can make it work!! Who knows :(

Hey ho

At least I'm tired enough to sleep regardless of that !

Forgot to update yesterday, fitted the new back door and frame, it took longer to clean up the silicon sealant squishing out from behind the beads holding the glass than fit the frame and hang the door - pre-hung as a complete door set by doordeals and diligently painted over last couple of weeks by me. Just need to find what paint will cover the clear silicon before touching up the nail holes. Any ideas?

Today, doggo out for a run when he bolted to the far side of the park, I casually jogged after him and he was making a fuss of a lovely golden retriever who was in season, he’d done the same last weekend and the other owner was lovely about it all. Got him back on the lead and he was like a love sick teenager for hours afterwards :D

I left him in his bed to get over himself, headed back out, bought some (even more) new clothes, chinos, jeans and a few jumpers in sizes that fit. Arranged to take a suit jacket in to be resized as well. Supermarket run and trip to car wash, then home to start the limoncello* making process and now searching for recipes to use up 400ml of lemon juice, lemon curd is the current favourite.

*this, sloe gin and chocolate orange “Baileys” to be contents of Christmas gift hampers with anchovy and black olive cheese biscuits, and Christmas pudding shaped malteaser bites. All home made

They were great throughout, manufacturing was swift, organised delivery to suit me (give or take), replaced the door handles within a couple of days as they supplied standard 5 lever style rather than euro cylinder. Price for machining hinge and lock rebates wasn’t ridiculous and saved me fucking them up.

Shite day. F-i-L had a stroke a few days ago and is in critical care unit. I went to see him today and well, the lights are on but no ones home etc. I think its a question of if he comes back from this, how much of him comes back, iyswim? My wife lost her mum in Fabruary, so this is hitting her hard. Grim.
