Buck Rogers was something I loved watching as a kid. I'm not 100% sure it was because of the storylines, or Buck himself though?? (Col Wilma Deering

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
My thought was Larry 'Buster' Crabbe. He also played Flash and Tarzan IIRC. The only actor to have played all three roles. I'll check later.

'Modern' Buck Rodgers was played by Gil Gerrard. Apparently he had quite a good career on US TV, but the only other thing I have seen him in was an episode of Little House on the Prairie.cheb wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:55 pm My thought was Larry 'Buster' Crabbe. I enjoyed Buck Rodgers when I was a kid. There were some great shows at that time. Buck Rodgers, Battlestar Galactica, Tales of the Gold Monkey (although we don't talk about that anymore), Knight Rider, Airwolf, Blue Thunder and loads more.

I bought the boxed set of the original Battlestar Galactica about 5 years ago. Watched about 6 episodes. It hadn't aged well.McNab wrote: Fri Dec 19, 2025 9:39 am'Modern' Buck Rodgers was played by Gil Gerrard. I don't know what that is, but having looked on the internet I can confidently say I've never seen it. Would have been quite poetic if he'd made it until Christmas day. Do believe he'd been very ill for a while though. Sad.

He was a very rare survivor of pancreatic cancer - he had it when he was 30. Getting to 74 was a bonus - I hope it didnt get him in the end

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
There's a couple of different types of pancreatic cancer. The type that most people get has roughly a 100% mortality rate after 5 years. The other type is bad, but not quite as bad. I know this because my sister had it, 50th birthday party on the Saturday, cancer diagnosis on the Monday. The surgery is nasty and leaves you talking digestive enzymes before every meal and diabetes for dessert. If he survived 40 odd years after surgery he did very well. My sister is 9 years clear.
