I sold the zzr11 and bought a rough running 2000 cbr600fx
I've saved approximately 60-70kgs
Because I'm getting on a bit now.

It's obviously been down the road but it doesn't appear to be bent, when I collected it I pre booked a MOT and rode home.
It didn't make the pre-booked MOT.....

It felt a bit odd, I'm assuming it only had 20psi in the front tyre.
It's not fully running on 4, I've got Fri off so carbs off, I've ordered a new fuel filter as well

Good bits, pilot road 5 or 6's, nitron rear shock, braided hoses

They are well put together those CBR600s.

I bought a jellymould one years ago for a few hundred quid. The bike was in bits and hadn't run in a long time. When I built it and fired it up for the first time it ran like a mouse eating tissue paper. Made my Kawa sound like an old rattle box.

I've never owned a CBR600 but if I get 4 cylinder curious again they're top of the list

Do a compression test, the 2000 CBR600 can have head gasket problems

Saving 60kg is good.
Buying a striking looking bike is good.
Buying a rough running 25 yo bike is not so good.

I've had a couple of CBR600s, there's a good reason they were the best selling bike on the UK for years. Excellent all round bikes, comfortable, decent handling and more than quick enough even for a 25 year old bike

I think this is number 6 cbr6, I've had a fj,fk,fmx2 and now 2 fx's

The FM ended up in FS spec, rear wheel (0.5 inch wider) FS carbs and airbox(ryanair) it went really well apart from higher speeds as the FM didn't have a fuel pump and I never fitted one

They hadn't gone to stick coils yet, so it can be useful to cut the first 5mm of HT Lead off at the cap end and screw it back in to fresh copper.
They're Chinese fairings, right? So yeh she's been for a slide. Worth having a good dig around and see what else is scuffed or maybe bent.

My first road race bike was a CBR600FN I think - the one with the non floating front discs.
It had been well used, but it was a great bike, I upgraded to a Suzuki 600 SRAD to race after that, and it wasn't as good (for me) on track.
Get it back to running as it should and you'll have a great little bike - enjoy.

Carbs stripped and cleaned today, what a pain to refit them, took most of the day and then it wouldn't start, it's getting fuel so it's spark to check next

She rubs, yesterday morning I had to get some meat fir Xmas,fillet steak, 1.6kg for a beef wellington

So I popped in to wicks fir some long reach screwdriver,bike shop for carb cleaner,easy start and a plug spanner.
Got home and tried the easy start,2nd attempt and we have life,nice tickover, quiet engine.
Did the brakes on the car and she was cold and restarted easily.
Left overnight and I'm trying again this morning, then it wire in stupid little indicators and book a MOT for Tuesday

Indicators replaced..... still flashing far too fast, the bulbs are 10w each ,so the same as std.
I've got a no load/led spec relay arriving Friday, hopefully that sorts it and I can mot her in time for the snow

I want to know how fast a CBR600 goes backwards - cos there's no way it rode into the seagull poop It definitely reversed in

The no load/led relay arrived today and it works, normal flasher speed.

Hondas usually have 21w indicators as standard, not 10w.

I had some Honda replica indicators off eBay or Amazon or whatever. They were advertised as having 21w bulbs but turned up with all 4 marked 10w.
No worries, I've got a 10w relay spare, so fit that... And they still flashed fast. On one side only.
Figured out by swapping parts around that 2 of the 4 bulbs caused fast flashing. So maybe even if they were marked 10w, they were actually less than that. Maybe 8, maybe 5, who knows?
I guess you could test resistance across the filament, but I just binned those two bulbs and used a couple spares instead.
