Chance to get out, cold over Shap, heated grips on! not bad by the lake, grit on the roads.

But it's basically dry

Cold and slippy. Saw a couple of cars in hedges, so it was a ride with mucho caution. About 80 miles, hot grips on 75%, cold feet and home to a bailey's coffee and finish off the pork pie.

Local run out before the frost, albeit the grit was out on the roads but at least dry.

If you don't know the Blue building:

They have cars inside...that DS is low to the ground!

And bikes...pedal and motor;)

Also a Ducati...

A lovely Norton

Then coffee and cake...
There are loads of other old and newer bikes, actually a nice visit

Had to abandon a ride out on the pink bastard today, the low sun was so bright I couldn't make out where the icy patches were on the untreated back lanes.
No snow here yet but sub zero temps had me wearing 4 layers and of course the bike wouldn’t start so after about 20 kicks I was drenched in sweat, turns out I hadn’t pushed the plug cap home far enough…..muppet!

Ta Da.
First run out in 2026. Very mild and sunny spells here today. Lashing rain last night has cleaned the roads nicely. I managed to get both triples out for a run. Felt great after a 3 week absence. Both bikes, fuel on,a couple of priming kicks, ignition on and we're making smoke on the first kick.

Either NI rain is incredibly efficient at road grot clearance, or you must spend bloody ages cleaning! I hazard the latter?Skub wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:42 pm Another wee escape today, just before sunset.

Even in the dry at the moment I've gotta do the window washers at least once per journey in the motor!

Heavy rain last night, mild and breezy today,so that dried the roads eventually.Supermofo wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:51 pm Either NI rain is incredibly efficient at road grot clearance, or you must spend bloody ages cleaning! I hazard the latter?

I watch the conditions like the sad bastrid I am,so I need to be badly in need of a fix to head out on dirty roads! That bike was out yesterday and not cleaned before going out again today. I've also a finely tuned puddle avoidance system.
