Today, I spent 12 hours at work removing a network core I installed 21 years ago.

Our street is a cul-de-sac on a bit of an incline,so it doesn't take much ice or snow to give folk problems getting their cars to the top. I got wise to this years ago and just fit all weather tyres on our wagon, they're a great job. I just drive out and in again,no bother.

For those folk with the usual road tyres fitted, mostly they just sit and spin. Now the thing is,some years ago we did battle with the unhelpful council and won ourselves a gritbox at the top of the street, but would any of the folk in difficulty go and grab themselves a shovel and spend 10 minutes throwing the hard won grit about?

Would they fuck. They'd rather sit there revving the bollix off their engines and uselessly spinning up their tyres.

I could take it no more when the carers for my neighbour got stuck,so I grabbed a shovel and set to work. Honestly, there's not a day's work in some folk, they'd happily watch a 70 year old man shovelling grit rather than be motivated to help themselves.

Pre all weather tyres and grit box,I used to let my front tyres down to about 10psi just to get out,but none of them seem to have the wit to even consider that.

Flew from Colombo to Malaysia in the Maldives for a few days relief from fecking temples. Bit of fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and eating and drinking.

Not cheap but you can't take it with you. :D

*Edit* Mmm, that should read Malé in the Maldives. A not so smart phone. We're actually at Bandos resort - staying all-inc.

Out for lunch then after I got home I decided to look at the padlock on my shed.

Ever since lubricating it with WD40 it had gone horrible and sticky. On looking again at the tin I realised I’d sprayed it with WD40 chain lubricant. Oops.

Walked the hound, picked up some logs with our quad for the neighbours, had home-made sourdough waffles at theirs as a thank you 🤤

De-Christmased the house.

And now I've just set my work alarms for the morning, for the first time in two months 😭😭😭

Bloody freezing 5 hours out on the Downs with friends. Started at 0815 and it was properly cold along the foot of the Downs riding to a mates place in Newhaven where the ride would start. Actually used my motorbike heated gloves to keep the fingers warm. Killed a battery in 21 miles! Could have probably got another few but as I was carrying a spare I swapped it out to prevent running it properly flat in the cold and possibly harming it.

Bought me a new recliner chair, not a riser mind, they're for really old people. Coming on Thursday. 👍🏻

Next time, just throw the grit across their windscreen.. with or without the shovel.

Had to wear my winter bike gloves.

No, not for that. Was doing some gardening on the big spikey cactus :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Paged at 03.28 for a suicidal female
ILB launched and on scene 20 mins later ...

Planning conspired against me, as the towel I had left of my windscreen had blown off (despite no wind), so had to do some quick de-icing. Casualty retrieved by the CRT team - boat then retasked to an agitated person on the beach. 1 hour later agitated person was found to be in Chichester - not on the beach local to me !
Boat back by 05.00, crew freezing.
Home to bed at 05.30...

So other than walking the dog and a fit of house fettling, I haven't done much

Welding gloves for the win.

Tidied up masses of bramble, blackthorn and rose hedging over the weekend with no stabbings at all.

It's a stupid thing to do really, I could have earned more on the outstanding amount with it invested than the interest was costing me on the mortgage, but I just wanted it gone.

Might not be winning much on the Premiums for a while.

I get that, but now you own it 100%... that's got to be a great feeling. I'm a long way from that... But an expensive child means that's not happening soon.
