Thanks. Ridden quite a few times on the CV775 Relleu-El Campello, a favourite for bike companies to give their launch bikes to journalists to ride along. Its a great road.

I've just paid my mortgage off, six years early.

My bank advised me to reduce the mortgage so I had £500 outstanding. That way, if I ever required a loan in a hurry, I could use that, and it kept my credit rating good.

Credit ratings over here don't exist like they do in the UK & USA, it's your bank record that counts,.

Surprised myself

Did a bit of 4WD stuff then went to one of the highest points for the magnificent views over La Graciosa.
Very narrow road and nowhere to park.
We stopped for a quick photo but when I tried to go the clutch went.
Was slightly uphill so couldn't freewheel. Quickly cars backed up and shit !!!

I put it in 1st which is super low. Used starter and full throttle and it caught.
Did about 200 yards in 1st to where I could safely park.
Then tried to start in 2nd.

Managed to navigate a junction then dared to put it 3rd and 4th.
Woo hoo.

Stopped at a cafe and called insurance. They said a Grua could pick the car up and taxi would take us home.
Or we could drive home and they'd pick car up tmrw and take it to a garage.

For various reasons we drove home.
Only 1 blind junction so I stopped and Pen waved me through.

Only had to do 3 dead clutch starts and all OK in 1st
Tried one in 2nd and it failed. Lucky us having super low first gear.

Managed the 10 miles home and having a rewarding beer.

Pen's phoning garages to book car in tmrw.

But of an adventure. Quite chuffed with myself

Just finished working on a big old cargo bike. Weighs a ton. Chain knackered, tensioner bent over and the rear pads down to metal. Left it to my son to test ride before handing back.

Missed my train to the airport due to getting stuck in ridiculous traffic thanks to a large local fire, but I leave plenty of leeway, so got another train and all was well.

Flew to Dublin.

Checked into hotel.

Visited our Dublin office.

Shortly going out in Dublin with a bunch of new workmates.

Hard boiled 20 eggs... which today cost $2.89 for 2 dozen, compared to almost $8 a year ago.

Yesterday was a memorial in resort for the father of a friend of mine. I've known Karl since covid times (he once left a little box of croissants and other stuffs outside my door to apologise for the noise of his birthday party - I hadn't heard a thing!). We've only really chatted properly in the last three years, since I have been conversational but also since he had a massive (not ski) accident causing a lot of time in rehab and people not understanding the ongoing pain because his injuries aren't visible, so we have a bit in common there!!

Close to New Year (can't remember the exact date), there was an avalanche on the North Face of the Bellcote mountain and an instructor died. It turns out that the guy that died was Karl's Dad. Which I only found out last week when I asked him why he wasn't skiing - turns out that they were both instructing on the North Face the same morning, only Karl's Dad didn't make it home They were/are both ESF instructors - his Dad had taught quite a few people I know here and was very highly thought of.

Anyway - last night there was a torchlight descent in memory of Francois. I didn't realise that anyone could join in (probably a good thing as I've never skied the slalom race piste and in the dark?? ) and went along with a mate that is out here on holiday. As we arrived, there were hundreds of people milling around near the lift and slowly they all went up to the top of the mountain. Took a while to organise them all but the descent was amazing. Video below, only two mins, but you can get an idea of how many people were involved - rough estimate from my mate was an absolute minimum of 600 people, probably more!!! It took a long time for them all to come down!!

The first few down were going quite slow, but as they skied past us, we realised it must have been Francois' family - some very young kids, a couple of babes in arms (hence very slow and long turns across the piste). Karl had said he'd ski for that, but he wasn't going to hang around after

After the ski down, there were fireworks too - still to similar calm music. There was also one of his friends/colleagues doing a bit of talking about F during the wait and after the ski down. Such an emotional evening and I'm so glad that Jeff was willing to come with me because it was heart wrenching. And then we went to dinner - kind cool to chat with a fellow petrol head! Although he does not understand the appeal of bikes!! But still, he's got and had some awesome cars!! LOL

The main reason for the $8/2xdoz was (allgedly) bird flu, which caused untold millions of layers to be slaughtered, even in flocks that weren't infected in States with no bird flu outbreaks...
And that was Costco prices, they were damn near $8 for 1 doz at Walmart etc

Just nipped into town for some bits for BBQ tonight.

Cracking day so decided to go the fun way home. Was enjoying so did a couple more miles with nice bends.
Had it well ligged over and lifting the front out of bends.

Then I remembered I was only in t-shirt, shorts and sandals

I went skiing !!!!!

Ok, sounds fairly normal for me, but in all honesty, I haven't skied proper very much (when the piste is open and other people are around )! I did ski with my niece when she was here, but on touring skis (cos I toured first!).

My (sort of) piste skis have barely been used since I bought them3 years ago and today I skied with a mate on the last day of his holiday

So I now have a ski pass for two days a week and have found out that actually, maybe I do like my piste skis (haven't really enjoyed them before!)

Now looking to book a lesson with a different to usual instructor to see if I can get more confidence - only fancy try a different one because the guy that taught me to ski, whilst completely awesome, I kinda feel that he doesn't understand how much confidence I've lost in the last few years!

Wondering if the guy that did the lesson for my niece might see my skiing a bit differently than someone that taught me and remembers how I used to ski!!!


Anyway - right now, buzzing about the skiing, aching a bit from the skiing, and wishing I could win the lotto so I wouldn't have to get up at 3:30 tomorrow to go to work !!!!!
