Just got back from an 80 mile monkey ride. Bit of shoulder blade ache, thats the upright riding position with me, but otherwise great fun. Roads are covered in shite but the monkey dealt with it with ease.

The front mudguard does nothing and cylinder head fins blocked with mud again. Any bit of headwind or uphill and its struggling, all about momentum.

Did a little loop taking in Ma Bakers at Prees heath for a ham n cheese toastie and tea, feet were cold so need some thermal socks. Heated gloves working a treat. On to Ellesmere marina for a photo and home.

This little bike is going to be ace in the summer. πŸŒžπŸ‘

Think the mpg is bollox, looking more likely 110 or 120 ish, will know more next ride. πŸ‘πŸ»

Hi Dodgy, do you go to bike meets in the Summer ?
I often go to one at the John Bunyan pub near St Albans and all manner of bikes turn up there,
and often see Monkey Bikes and Groms and the riders clearly enjoyed the ride.

Occasionally a local pub meet for a natter but not often. I'm new to the monkey and only rode it twice but it's lots different from anything else I have which means I'll have no reason to sell. I do enjoy bike life at a slower pace and around here I can roam around some distance just crossing main roads or joining for a short while. 50 odd on little twisties is pretty much all you can do anyway.

Our roads here are in a terrible condition so the monkey is the right tool afaiak, equally when I change my car again I'll be thinking bigger wheels/tyres.

There's plenty of room on the monkey even though it's small, just like riding any other upright bike. Does struggle on hills and headwind but knock it down one and all good. You get through 1234 pretty quick but 5 can bog down in any slight headwind.

Security is my biggest concern when out. Parking is a worry and if I did an overnighter or 2, I really would want safe parking and not just Premier inn cctv. But being so small I'd imagine a bnb owner would let me put it in their back garden or shed or summot like. πŸ‘πŸ»

Stayed at a Logis once and they proposed I overnight the bike in the lobby!

(It was on a busy-ish route used by lorries on the way to Calais. I declined politely. Funny place, picked it because it was a Logis award winner. The accommodation turned out to be pretty basic but I discovered the award was for the food...which was  ).

(The bike was still where I parked it the next morning).

I could get it in the lift easy enough, open doors with the chunky tyre. I'll give Premier inn a ring in the morning, see what they say. πŸ‘πŸ»

The engine paint doesn't last long versus a pressure washer, so best to avoid that.

Glad you're enjoying the monkey :banana-dance:

Looks like those hand controls are about parallel to the ground - that might be contributing to the shoulder ache. Maybe rotate them a bit, or maybe leave them where they are and rotate the whole handlebar.

When I got back yesterday I got Mrs D to take one. I looked such a twat with my messy long hair I got the shaver out and now I'm bold. Until you see a photo of yourself, your don't see what other folk see, mirrors must lie or summot.

Got me a nice flat cap, and NO. πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ»

No more mods BTW.
